Returning A Leased Vehicle Early?

Hey guys,

I currently lease a 2024 Volkswagen Tiguan and I’m debating trying to get out of my lease. The truck has had numerous problems from the start and i want to see if i can possibly get out of it earlier. I know VW Credit doesn’t allow 3rd party buyouts from companies like Cavana so i was hoping to see what other options i have? I’m in NJ and i know how many months i have left and the residual amount

Have you ruled out a lemon law suit based on your state’s laws?

I believe VW allows transfers, but you remain liable (so not a viable option under most circumstances).

Your lease agreement will list your early termination options and the formula for calculating the cost of each.

Thanks for your response. I looked into the lemon laws in the past and the problems im having arent the same issue over and over so i dont think i can get this characterized as a lemon

Some states have certain number of days in the service to qualify as a lemon. It doesn’t necessarily has to be the same issue.

Verify, but 20 cumulative days may also be a threshold in your state depending on the nature of the defects.
