Return Lease - do all 4 tires have to match?

,

I have to return my RX350 and one of my tires does not match the other 3 (had a flat tire a couple of months ago and purchased a used one to replace).

When I return the lease, will they require that all 4 tires are the same? And if they are not will they charge for for this?

Lexus lease return guide says excess wear is

TIRES, WHEELS AND WHEEL COVERS
• Tires with exposed cords or sidewall damage
• Tires or wheels that do not meet manufacturer’s
guidelines for safe operation
• Missing or damaged wheel covers
• Wheel gouges greater than 1"

If the new tire is same rating as the other three may not be charged but I would assume they will charge you for 1 and be happy if they dont to be safe.

I have had 3+ inspections and they ALL ask for Tire Brand / Size.
So if it isn’t the same brand you will be charged.

And what might extra suck is that they will charge you for 2 tires even though 1 is wrong.

I retuned a Lexus last year Summer and not all four matched; however, each set did match and i would suggest you do that. Inspection was a non issue. Lexus even returned my full MSD sans the disposition fee of course since I went to BMW.

I’m guessing you meant each axle matched?

Correct, the front set were one brand and the rear set were another brand.

do you think it makes a difference about 2 sets ? it still doesn’t fully match, right?

Its a risk, autovin told me they charge on mismatched 4 tires

Is the spare a donut or full size? I thought they use to be full size, could use that if its the same as the other 3

I would imagine that the owners manual states that for safe operation, especially on an AWD version, all 4 tires have to match.

The way I returned it was acceptable to Lexus. My car was RWD so I can’t say regarding AWD also my car was inspected by Autovin and the inspector had no issues. I didn’t get ding for anything and returned my car with almost 45k miles since that’s how many miles was in my contract.

I know for sure you can’t have all mismatched for Lexus, however; if the axles matches at least for RWD then it’s acceptable. I am also inclined to say the same applies to FWD, AWD maybe different.

Ps find a used tire locally that match and swap or look on bestusedtires.com or even eBay.

Spare on Lexus are donuts.

I have returned cars with non matching tires. I returned a Chrysler lease (through Hann Financial) and I had the front set of tires different than the rear, but the same specs.

I have also returned a Kia with 1 tire of a different brand.

No charge on either

But were they AWD? According to the manual, AWD should have all 4 tires the same with very similar tread depths.

As I say here a lot.
LUCKY

Most people aren’t. Especially the guy who got his wheels stolen before inspection.
