Return a lease car to other state for a road trip?

I have been WFH for almost a year and have a lot of unused milages. And the current rental price is also high.

So it comes to me whether I can do a one-way road trip with my lease car, return it to the closest dealer at the end. Then take a flight back.

Does it make sense?

In this hypothetical, it would be incredibly helpful to know what brand, and possibly what captive/bank/CU your lease is with…?

MBZ GLC. Lease from MBFS.

Call the dealer you want to return it with. Make sure they will accept it. Get the lease end inspection before turning it in. You do not have a relationship with the dealer. Any money saved will go away quickly with erroneous lease end charges.

Given the climate, I don’t see any dealers refusing to take a lease return but it is always prudent to ask ahead.

agreed. Find a MB dealer that will buy it from you (even at payoff, ideally more), save the (huuuuuuuuuuuuuge) disposition fee, there’s your road trip destination.

Are you sure there is no equity in the car? I did something similar with my wife’s x5. Drove it from va to Tennessee to pick up her cayenne then turned the x5 in at the Bmw dealer down the street. All I did was call ahead to make sure they’d take it. It was January so completely different market.
