Am I thinking in the clouds? I’m trying to research if I can get a lease on a 2026 or 2027 BMW X5 electric hybrid with no additional cash for $1,000/ month or preferably under. I currently lease a 2025 BMW X5 xdrive50e that i would trade in. My current lease ends next year on July 4th, 2027.
You likely don’t have equity in the lease, so that will be an upfront cost. Even though the payment is achievable on it’s own with inceptions DAS, why do you want to move up a model year on the exact same trim?
I am open to 2027. It is the payment reduction I am looking for without scarifying the functionality of my current X5.There has been some life changes with having a son and my wife going through breast cancer treatments and surgery over the past 2 years making me investigate options.
As @IAC mentioned, you will not see a payment go down on a 2027. If your goal is payment reduction, I would look elsewhere (e.g. ICE GLC, Telluride if you value the space). Very unlikely that you’ll see anything meaningful getting into a new 50e, especially considering your equity situation on the old one.
Edit: If you want a cheaper PHEV, maybe an XC90 would allow you to keep the utility while reducing your payment meaningfully.
If most of your driving is under 45-55 miles daily and you have reliable charging I will say the PHEV is 100% worth it assuming you can get out of your current X5 free and clear.
Have you looked into lease transferring the old one?
Yea the only way it would fiscally make sense is if the terms on the original lease were highly unfavorable… in which case the equity situation on the current lease would be awful
Agreed. The negative equity in the existing lease is likely a deal breaker to stay under $1000. Just helped a friend do `12% off on an X5 40i using the 0.9% financing on an $82k MSRP. Lease would have been close to $1K with MD taxes.
A BMW dealership about an hour away said I trade in my lease and give them $2k I would have the same payments of $1,200/month for the exact same car but the latest year. Equity hacker offered me $57,000 earlier this month.
Why the change from 25 to 26? There hasn’t been any updates as far as I know. Curious if you want out of your lease what options do you have? Maybe you can lease transfer?
Why not take the Equity Hacker offer and pocket the difference if this is what you really want to do. You can certainly lease a new 2026 X5 50e for less than $1200 a month using the equity by selling to Equity Hacker. The X5 is changing for 2027, so dealer are willing to move the 2026 models.
