Resale Value of New Trim Level

Planning to finance a new vehicle instead of leasing… possibly a Subaru Ascent. When looking at resale value of a newly released trim (Onyx), what is the best way to go about it? Just base it on current RV or should I look at used car prices of Outback Onyx and apply the general findings to Ascent? I am not really set on any trim level and may even go down in size to Outback- just want to try and select the option with best return if/when I opt to sell.

Look at Ascent values, not Outback.

The trims won’t be outliers. A trim whose original MSRP was +/- X percent of a Limited is going to be worth around +/- X percent of a Limited in the future.

Appreciated. I was leaning that way but wasn’t sure how much emphasis to apply to trim vs model.
