I’d love to get feedback on the following deal terms for the lease of a 2020 Audi A6 45 Premium Plus in Zip Code 08840 (NJ), 36 month, 10K miles per year.
Anything else I can do to work this down? Thanks so much for your help, this forum is AWESOME!
You gotta do some sleuthing around the internet, like on here, Audi forums and Edmunds to find out if there’s any trunk money (factory direct to dealer incentives) on these.
Thanks so much! I suppose if I find some trunk money (factory to dealer incentive) then I ask the dealer to cut me in on a share of those and add it to the deal…
I doubt it. 10% off on a NEW 2020 model in these times is pretty good. You could ask for more off (maybe an extra $1k), and tell the dealer you will come in and sign the deal ASAP. If they can meet you halfway, that would be a solid deal.
If you like the car and need one right now, I would go for the deal. However, if you can wait a couple of months for better incentives and discount, that could be an option. At the end of the day, you are going to have to decide.
Btw, you should add Audicare. It residualizes and bumps the RV by 1%.
Yes, I asked the dealer how much beyond the employee 10% discount they would be willing to go, and the dealer said it was a great deal already and they couldn’t discount any further. I’m not so sure about that…Thanks again!
I’ve got another Audi coming off lease that I could extend. I guess the question is once the Costco discount goes away at the end of the summer, will I be in a better or worse position in terms of discount?
Given the low residual (50%), I asked the dealer whether they could throw in (and then discount) AudiCare to give me a 1% bump up in residual, which caused the dealer to laugh!
Thanks again for all your help, super appreciated!
I figured that there is some profit margin on AudiCare that dealers should be willing to discount. I mean who pays MSRP for anything these days? Thanks!
If I extend my current Audi lease (month to month, up to 6 months, have 1 more AudiCare service remaining) and wait until December, I’m wondering what the discounts might look like after the Costco 10% employee pricing offer expires?
Also, thank you for the calculator correction. I’ve added the NJ luxury tax ($234) into the government fees section, along with a $7.50 NJ Tire Tax I couldn’t figure out what to do with before, and properly reduced the NJ Sales Tax to 6.625% (instead of artificially inflating it as I did before to include the luxury tax).
Here’s the new calculator link (not sure how to make it look pretty):
Thanks for the vote of confidence. I previously had a basic understanding of leasing principles, but the participants on this forum have given me an entirely new level of expertise. This is a prime example of knowledge equating to negotiating power! Thanks again!
Also, thanks for your tip on shifting to a NY dealer to take advantage of the NY state law that limits document fees to $75 (and saving me $523) over the NJ dealer’s $598 document fee.
That seems really low hanging fruit, although it leaves me wondering what other line items NY dealers might use to build in similar profit margin?
