This is going to sound ridiculous but I’m debating jumping back into the realm of driving a manual transmission for my DD. It’s been a while since I drove one with any regularity and I’ve never driven one in a city like Seattle (tons of hills, more traffic etc.). I’ve been test driving a good bit lately and really like it, but test drives aren’t like daily ownership.
I’d prefer to rent one for a few days and DD it on a variety of conditions to make sure I’m OK with this before committing on my own car.
Anyone know of anywhere that rents stick shift cars in the US? I’ve poked around on Turo and saw some options, so I’m considering that. I just don’t love Turo so was curious if anyone had any suggestions.
The only rental companies I know of that might have manual trans cars would either be Budget or Hertz. Hertz because of their “fun” collection, and Budget, I have heard of them having manual cars. How up to date is that? I have no idea. You’re probably better off with Turo, IMHO.
No major car rental in the USA rents manual trans car (Hertz Fun or Prestige aren’t manual)
Use Turo, 100% recommended. I have used it in the past and it is very convenient. You can filter searches as to like what type of transmission (manual or automatic), brand, model, etc.
