Remember The Chevy Vega? This Is How It Was Shipped

I don’t remember the Vega, but this is still how they were shipped. :stuck_out_tongue:

My first car was a '77 Vega wagon back in 1979. I bought the car from local Chevy dealer for $300. It was 2 years old with 35K miles. It was already rusty. Unbelievable how much oil it burned. I kept it driving/running via local junkyard. There was a row of at least 20 of them to choose from.

One of American car-makers finest moments.

There are people that pay that for car insurance for one car monthly.

College roomie had a Vega, he souped up the engine and it squeaked tires without any effort, so burned rubber easily. Sure he went through tires like mad.

A college friend of mine had a retro fascination with the Monza, which he called the Monzarati.

When you say “souped up”, unless he put a V6 or V8 in it…the motor, new was rated at 84hp, 0-60 14.8 seconds. LOL

Been too long to be sure, and not that it’d even fit, but maybe the 350? I recall he said his dad had to cut on the fender liners. Had the obligatory add on guage set on the dash. Lol

Not only possible, was a popular mod.

DDG has tons of hits.

Edit: moral of the story…stick to Pintos!

I can’t imagine shelling out for a brand new car ($3249 in 1977) and having it be worth 10% that in only two years.
