Regrets, I've had a few... on my 2023 Porsche Cayenne Base Demo Lease

That’s about the same as well equipped BMW 3XM, but I suggested 2018 model, which you can get chealer than your X3M. The 2023 boasts 1025HP (twice as much as X3M) and, obviously, not a cheap car. But still cheaper than GTS, very close to X3M.

and this is one of the cheaper ones locally

It looks to be overpriced. But the point is not to advertise SRT Demon. There are other, faster than X3M cars on 0-60, like certain Teslas. You can find a car that will rip in 0-60 range as fast or faster than X3M, you can even get S Macan and tune it for couple of grands to produce 500 HP.
The point is to highlight contradiction in the purpose you claim to have for X3M.
You speak in its’ favor despite admitting that it’s inferior in handling to GTS, because it’s mall crawler with space for kids , and to be gently driven 95% of the time (by itself an odd reason to pick X3M of all X3s). But then you say shitting on other cars at a red light is what really makes it stand out for you and your wife.If the latter is the case, you can shit on cars with less investment and right tuning.

Below is from black book, for informational purposes only, not to argue about price/value of 2018 SRT Demon.

Teslas (and other EVs) arent prcitcal in south/central FL when you and a few hundred thousand others are all trying to evac for a hurricane… waiting hours on end to recharge on 95 when traffic alone is a nightmare

And tuning a S to 500… you should see what others have tuned their x3ms to… but this is a lease, so youd have to put everything back to stock and hope they dont hook the scanner to see that it was tuned

If love to see some stock ring times on both the x3m and gts for a comparison

No matter how much you tune it, even if you install one meter wide rear tires and make it go 0-60 in half a second, it won’t handle well, not as well as GTS.

With 70 more horses under the hood, it still couldn’t beat Macan on track performance and took all scores on straight line speed, which we already knew it would have advantage in with more powerful engine.

Maybe I’m an outlier but I would never take my X3 M40i to the track and pretty sure I wouldn’t take a X3M either. I have my car with a stage 2 tune but I only ever use the power to gap scat packs, mustang GTs, and the hilarious occasional civic with a muffler delete. The inline 6 sound with FBO is heavenly but Macans sound great stock. Both are great cars but X3 is a lot better if you need the additional space.

Who takes any of these to the track? That is such a stupid point. It’s an SUV. The x3m will be quicker on the road.

Buying any of these performance SUVs is honestly pretty stupid. You’re fighting physics.

The macan is also substantially more money to get it anywhere close to same spec as the x3m with a reasonable options. Prob 20k more.

“ handle well” it’s an SUV who tf cares. It’s made for hauling kids.

I think you can argue for one or another depending on your priorities. Macan doesn’t have the space that competing SUVs offer. Not a big deal for a couple who doesn’t spend $2000 week on groceries and has two dogs who will not need heated seats or space in the back. But it could be a deal breaker for a family with four small kids and packs of Huggies to fit with shopping bags when going to local Giant.

What is beyond dispute is the handling of Macan versus X3, across the trims, is better. Macan just handles/steers/controls better than X3.

While the x3m seems to do everything else better, and be an all around more versatile vehicle, and at saving ove over 20k+

No argument about priorities, that’s why you should pick the car that fits your needs the best.

Herp derp my grocery getter is faster than your grocery getter on the track.

Most people don’t even take gt cars on the track, I’m sure 99% of macan gts do not see a track

@conanohasselhof will have a lot to say about both BMW and Porsche

To the OP: I worked for Porsche Auto finance in my early 20’s in their corporate HQ doing capital markets, and they got my hooked on the brand with a company car.

I’m a big fan of the brand, have a 911 Turbo S and Boxster GTS in the garage, and I hate to say it but I have had a Cayenne base in the past and I really didn’t like it either. It just felt too big, the base engine was a slow, and the ride was really stiff. Of all qualities the stiffness of ride, really got to me. As an SUV I just wanted a comfortable daily driver (I ended up with a used CPO QX60 as a daily driver with my dogs, and had it for four years!). We sold our Cayenne after 2 years and it ended up being about $400/month.

On the Macan front: the Macan is more fun to drive than a Cayenne (and my Boxster is more fun than the 911 Turbo S), but seriously… just get a used Boxster or Cayman if you want fun? (Sorry leasing P-Cars is brutal, but the Macan loaner deals at 15% off MSRP I’d think about!).

Macan’s are nice cars, but just coming down from my ivory tower while slumming here to put together an ID4 lease to replace the QX60… How is there 80 posts on X3 vs. Macan performance, when both are not sports cars in the least!?

For what is worth, Porsche Financial, WOULD NEVER LEASE base Macan’s for employees. Only S variants – residuals suck on the base, and it’s a little pokey.

[I bought a 2023 Nissan Leaf and got eviscerated even after getting $11.5k of state and fed. cash, so bad purchases happen to good people! I refuse to eat the loss on the Leaf and am just gonna hold that car and haul garbage with it or rent it to homeless people for a good night’s rest! Check out an ID4 as a Cayenne alternative… seriously, I got one ON LEASE, if you can get over the badge – it’s plenty nice enough as a daily driver. I don’t quite fit in a Ariya for headroom, but it’s equally nice if you fit and has smoking lease deals]

Don’t bring me into this :poop: fest of a thread. If op wants to talk dm me. I’ve had or driven nearly every Porsche or Bmw talked about in this thread.

I’ve driven a Fiat 500 Abarth for 10 years, and was thinking about a trade in. Not that most people want a car THIS small, but with the kids gone, as well as not needing a sub menu to open the glove compartment, the convenience of a small car to thread through traffic or park in Manhattan without paying $50 is just a tremendous advantage.
A tune up is a plug replacement.
I have no idea what drove the fetish for three rows of seats when families are smaller than ever, or pick up trucks that will never see a 2 X 4. But it is what it is, and hopefully, people will see how absurd these giant cars are.
And if gasoline goes to $6.00 a gallon, I couldn’t care less.
