Referral for Fletcher Jones Mercedes-Benz in Newport?

Anyone have a referral for a good salesperson at Fletcher Jones Mercedes in Newport?

Or any other excellent Mercedes dealers in SoCal, pref. LA?

I’m already in contact with Calvin at Foothill Ranch, who’s super helpful.

F**** Fletcher Jones. They can suck a bag of d****. Before you will try to work with them check this out:

Found a car they had on a lot. Negotiated ~$10000 discount of a car and all the lease details. Not a huge discount, was offered the same discount at several other dealerships (thank god i had a backup deal). All set and done, went over the deal several times, approved by the manager. Drove 1.5hour to the dealership to pick-up a car. They will not let me start paperwork until I test drive it and i have to wait since the car is in the “storage”. Made me wait an hour and half and when I was about to leave, they finally brought paperwork with $2000 discount and inflated money rate on a perfect 800 credit history. Drove to Keys MB and picked up the same car with $12000 discount.

This is helpful…thanks for posting your experience…screw that store.

Fletcher Jones is known for having absolutely huge inventory. They’ll have those high end AMGs and tons of options for pretty well any model. They also trade on their reputation as biggest and glitziest MB dealer in OC or maybe SoCal for that matter.

What they aren’t known for is great deals. I haven’t seen a ton of people here on LH singing their praises. They don’t blast out the same deals you’ll find at the big BMW dealers nearby like Crevier and Irvine BMW. Seems Fletcher J is happy to move slightly less iron at slightly higher margins.

It’s a beautiful store, though. I drive past it a couple times a week.

I can help, sent you a PM

Having worked for the FJ group (not that dealer/location) it is all about volume. That store sells the most Mercedes in the country and has the highest revenue for sales and service. They have multiple Mercedes and Audi dealers that are top 10 in the country for volume.

Also it not fair to compare a Mercedes dealer to BMW dealers since the behind the scene operations are different.

What fun would car-buying be without such episodes !

Did they keep your keys to your trade so that you had to stay and negotiate ? Did they throw your keys up on the roof ?

They’re clearly not about volume of deals people on LH want was my entire point. Else, we’d see more mention of them here. That’s all.

don’t go to FJ unless you want to waste your time. Stick with Calvin he will 100% get you a better deal. Went to FJ for a “deal” that was promised and all they keep talking about is #1 MB dealer in the nation…well if you think about it it’s not hard selling Mercedes to rich people in Newport Beach who love driving MB and BMW/Audi. You’ll never get a good deal there because they have no incentive to make a deal for a car when some rich person will come in and accept the first quote with no hassle.

There was no trade in. Sales person told me that I had to come the same day and pick up a car. I drove there and They literally made me sit in the office, fill out all the credit paperwork but would Not show me me any financial documents. They just marinated me there and probably hoped that I would settle for $5K off in the end of the day. At the same time my sales person magically went home and no one knew anything about my deal and there was nothing in writing.

Once again I’m so happy I had other deals lined up and each time I turn away a customer from Fletcher Jones it makes my day.

My one experience with FJ was dreadful…around 10 years ago, the MB E class was being blown out (20K+ off MSRP) as it was the last year of the model combined with recession.

First they said I had to go in to get a price (probably the number one bad sign)…fortunately I was headed down to Laguna that weekend so it was right on the way. Once I got there, the manager pawned me off, changed the numbers and spouted a river of lies.

I walked out with the salespeople running after me as I drove off the lot. Ended up wasting only about 30 minutes…but it was one of the worst car experiences I’ve ever had.

Don’t bother with FJ in Newport. They don’t care for the LH clientele. I have multiple friends who work/have worked there. They service the Newport rich. People who come in, want a car, and will pay MSRP for it to get in and out ASAP.

Sounds awesome. I don’t blame them  if they’re getting bonused on gross.

I dream about that every night.

they do not like to discount heavy…avoid

My own experience with the internet salesperson there was terrible. Wouldn’t give the MF and literally said he didn’t know what “MF” and “RV” meant. Kept on texting me to ask me when I was coming in. I told him no deal, at which point he revealed the MF and said that the dealer policy is that they never give the buy rate MF.

Edit: forgot to mention that the salesperson also refused to discuss MSDs until he knew he had lost the deal b/c “they are rarely discussed” (huh?!).

The deal he offered me on a near-stripped loaner C300 wasn’t that far off what people are paying for new base C300s.
