Texas … typically the same taxes when leasing or buying, makes this much harder than it already is.
This question gets asked a lot and there aren’t any good answers. Some people recommend the Infiniti QX80 but that deal only looks good compared to an Escalade, doesn’t look very appealing by itself IMO.
Buying a vehicle from the better resale value brands will be a lot lower net cost of ownership than a bad lease. Santa Fe hybrid purchase might be your best bet. Or a non-grand Highlander since you don’t need a full-size third row. EXL trim is pretty decently equipped and probably retains the best % value.
Thanks for your insight on QA80, I looked at the Santa Fe Hybrid - the family doesn’t like that model as it’s very similar-looking (box style) to R1S.
Grand Highlander Hybrid is what I narrowed down but with taxes, it’s touching close to $65k (Limited and Platinum trims). If anyone has hacks to get those trims for $60k I am in!
You can see what kind of discounts are in the Marketplace for not only your state but also high volume ones like NY, CA, etc.
I don’t understand why it would be impossible to stay below $60k OTD for a GHH Ltd when we are talking about a 53k starting MSRP car plus 6.25% tax something like $600 combined for reg and doc.
GHH including factory and dealer added accessories. And tax on $55K vehicle with 6.5% tax is around 3.5k in TX . So it’s going well above $60K based on the quotes I received from the dealers.
