Rav4 Prime Lease/Immediate Buyout in Pennsylvania

Hey All,

I haven’t been able to find any info on the available posts. So I hope people with knowledge/experience can advise.

I am planning to lease and immediate buyout a Rav4 Prime. I may be leasing the car through a dealer in VA, MD or PA. But since I live in PA, it will need to be registered/garaged here.

The problem is: I read somewhere that vehicles registered in PA can only be bought out through the dealership, and not directly through Toyota Financial Services. I’m just not confident that I could pull this off without facing some kind of hefty penalty from the dealership.

Do you have experience with this? If so, could you please share the details?

Your lease contract will stipulate what the dealer can charge on a buyout. It is usually only a doc fee. Adding any other charges that are not in the contract is illegal.

Which is capped at ~$400 in PA.

OP can also see if the online startup dealers like Drive_Caramel, KeySavvy or TRED can make his life easier.

Thank you for your replies. These do make me feel a bit better about it. Did anyone has first-hand experience of doing it at all?

I can do it for you via ally, which has more rebate.
