Range Rover Velar Lease

Hello all,

First post so apologies If I am not providing enough information. I have 4 months left in my RR evoque lease and I am looking to upgrade a little to the Range Rover Velar, as I love the cars but need a bigger trunk. I have been told by my bank and two dealerships they will absolve the last 3 payments of the lease (not roll this amount into new lease) so basically I have a month until I am hoping to lease a bigger car.

I have been calling a few dealerships to get an idea for what deal I may be able to get and learning a lot from my previous mistakes in lease on this forum so thanks to everyone for posting.
I managed to get a couple of deals out of some dealerships and here is the best information I have so far on one:

Range Rover Velar 2020 S with Navigation
MSRP: $61,903
Discounted price: $56,303
Drive off including fees: $3k
lease months: 42
mileage: 10k per year
Drive off including fees: 3k (I could work this down I am sure)
Monthly: $660 including tax
Money Factor: 0.00106
Residual: 59%

Thoughts? Advice on how to improve on these numbers?

My goal is to get the monthly amount to less than $650 but I also do not want to put much if any money down (according to your specialists that is a big no no). I had felt my current car had positive equity (11k miles not used and in very good condition) and wanted to use that equity as a trade in for the new car, but I am told by almost every Land Rover dealership it is very unlikely I have positive equity in the car and have been quoted from them at less than the residual on the evoque.

36 or 39 months might lease better?

Just drive down the $3k at signing and see if you can get selling price to about $55k. Looks better than most.

Stick w a 19 if you can

This is a P340 including 6.25% tax

A 19 SE R dynamic 250 is sweet spot though

thanks so much Jeff will do! I will do my best to get it to 39 month

Be mindful when doing a 39 month lease that you’ll be paying another year of California registration, but only getting 3 months of utility out if it. Going to cost you an extra $600 in registration to save $7 a month on the payment.

Aaah great point! So what would you recommend sticking with 42 months? The warranty exceeds that anyway. 36 will just raise payments at this point.

36 raises the payment but not as much as the extra registration and certainly not as much as repairs on an out of warranty RR. Even though the payment is higher, it’s still probably the cheapest option in the end.

But to be honest I think the warranty exceeds 42 months even I believe I’ll have to check. Also knock on wood, I personally have had little issues in 3 year leases and often if I know I’m returning the car or going to re-lease I go elsewhere for my service. As long as you keep receipts I’ve never had an issue with that.

I do see your point though.

I’m looking for a similar deal for the same make and model in New York. What lease incentives were offered to get you to the discounted price?

How do you mean? I just spent time speaking to a lot of dealerships to see who would offer the best deal to be honest. All the information above is currently what I have.

I initially asked around and looked around for 2019 velar models as there is almost no difference between the 19 and 20 model. Unfortunately I’ve probably looked at 8 dealerships and there stock for 2019 models in the color and type I want is really limited. But I agree that’s the way to go if I can.

Did you end up trading up to the Velar?

Nope, I’m actually holding off and switching to a Jeep Grand Cherokee limited X 4x4. Long story short in the last month I went to Range Rover as I was now in the 3 month window to deal on the velar from my evoque lease, spoke to almost 6 dealerships and no one really wanted to negotiate near that price. Eventually, I got fed up with the terrible service which has been poor throughout the lease but I do love the cars so simply put up with it, and decided id rather take my money elsewhere. The deals on jeep are far more appealing to me and I really like the car too, and at least their sales teams actually want to negotiate rather than not respond or fail to follow through on deals they claimed would be possible.

I actually have an 18 grand Cherokee that I’m trying to get out of into a velar… it’s been a fantastic suv but my dream is the velar. I am not impressed with the service so far and I’ve also initiated contact with several dealerships over the internet and no one wants to sell one LOL
