Are these notoriously terrible leases or do they ever get better? I’ve been seriously considering one and likely will do it but the leases are painful even if getting a deal (which seems to be $5k-$6k off sticker).
If anyone has any other creative ideas I’d love to hear it.
Range Rovers are luxury goods, they’re very nice but they’re a terrible value proposition. The lease is not going to be attractive compared to some of the more mainstream brands at similar price points.
I was dead set on it and then got distracted by a Cayenne Turbo S E-Hybrid CPO 12mo lease which is cheaper than the RR Sport but has a $200K sticker. That being said I really love the RR Sport but I just hate the lease (and I can afford it). Feels like pissing money away because we know I’m not going to be right side up at the end.
It’s rarely an affordability issue (people don’t tend to wander into a Land Rover store by accident). It’s whether you want to pay extra for what Range Rover brings to the table compared to some other similarly priced cars.
With all that being said, if I was offered a lower payment on a 12 month Cayenne lease I would probably take it.
When you compare MSRP to lease payments, Range Rover’s will almost always lose against like-MSRP competitors. They’re intended for those who simply want the car and don’t care what they pay for it. JLR knows this which is why their rates/residuals consistently suck.
