After signing the papers on 7/14 and having a bit of a debacle with the dealer recommended shipper- I am finally expecting to receive my Jeep TODAY from the Broker’s recommended shipper!!! Wondering if the checklist is something you go through after the truck drops it off or meanwhile? In the case there are any issues from the checklist what are next steps? Feeling like the way the last two weeks have gone I’m trying to be prepared for the worst and still hoping for the best
I think you would do that check list after the shipper has left, they usually don’t stick around. I had two delivered to me and both times I walked around the vehicle and inspected for any scratches or damage but that was really it. The biggest thing to check is the fuses, both of mine had almost every fuse that needed to pushed in further.
Damage is the big thing to be looking for when taking delivery from the shipper.
Get up on the tires/side step/a ladder and inspect the roof for damage. Ive seen more instances of roof damage on shipped wranglers than other places, and its easy to miss if you dont look specifically for it.
During the shipment i have seen lot of dead bugs on the front and even Top. Hidden in them might be some road chips. Look for chips carefully they might be on the front and Top roof. I got 2 chips on the roof top . If you find any report to the driver before signing any paper and report to dealership.
How many fuses are there. Is there any diagram or a video one can check. It will be good to make sure to check everything in the fist week as I have bad experience before with a dealer defect/damage on vehicle.
This sounds strange. Why would a manufacturer do that for 60k+ MSRP car! On my other car I could use the app for doors/windows throughout the lease.
Probably the same reason why BMW chooses to charge customers with a subscription, in order for them to use the heated seats. I do believe that is not in the US (yet).
It must be a Jeep thing …
that’s why they are trying to elevate Wagoneer as its own upper tier brand.
Open hood and open fuse box on passenger side firewall. Push in everything you see in. Many fuses were not fully seated on both my Wranglers.
oh my god! so push in all of them! never owned a jeep before.
On mine i did not observe anything pushed out. But i still push them to make sure they all seated well.
Took less then a minute once the box is open.
Correct! I literally checked every single one on 3 4xes and I would say 90 percent had an audible click. Crazy.
lol, that’s pretty standard in the industry. Toyota even charges you to use the keyfob. Toyota is going to make you pay to start your car with your key fob | The Verge
And Mercedes-Benz EQS —
To note, Tesla is going to charge for some of their free stuff after 8 years of a car initially getting sold.
Same here. No fuse issues with the one I picked up from Gupton.
Giving a trial period of the app that later requires a subscription for connected services is very normal.
Anyone run into insurance issues or how to get around it?
Just tried to add my Wrangler to my policy. I’m with Travelers. The VIN wouldn’t pull up so they manually entered the information, but lo and behold, Wrangler 4xe/PHEV does not show up. They manually entered a Wrangler being sold for $55k and my premium for 6 month was $1,300! Last time I had my Wrangler 4xe on my policy it was $850.
“Too bad, just wait for it to update” was pretty much their response
Have the agent call in. Travelers often is slow to update Vin#'s. It seems odd on a 22 this late in the year that they cannot pick it up. There is an option to use last years model for rating in their system with the current vin. Just make sure the agent is picking up the correct model.
I did speak with the agent. Told her my 2022 Wrangler 4xe was $850 2 month ago. She told me nothing they can do. Did not know about using last year’s model for rating… will call to inquire about this.
What model would they pick? They said Wrangler 4xe isn’t showing up, neither is Wrangler PHEV.
It should be in there. They might need to call into service operations. If the ratings have changed that much (doubtful) you could have them shop for a policy with a different carrier and see if the rates are better (assuming you are using a broker with other options).
