Quote Help Please - Honda Civic Hatchback EX

Hi. I’m in NJ 07083 and I’d like to know how this quote for a 2021 Civic Hatchback EX looks as far as transparency. I’m thinking the only thing not shown is the doc fee but I think it’s included in the “driveoff” amount since that should add up if it’s somewhere around the usual $699 doc fee (plus tax) in NJ.
Does that seem right or is anything else missing?
And any advice on a counter to the sale price that won’t get me ghosted? Any help or tips would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Everyone will have different opinions on what a “good” deal is for any given car. At the end of the day, it comes down to how you feel about it. Here are some Lease 101 tips that we’d recommend:

Thank you for that. I wouldn’t consider this all that good of a deal and I still need to work on it. I was just wanting to know if there’s anything missing from the quote that I should ask the dealer about.

Look on a Civic or Honda specific forum for prices paid information. Then compare that to your discount

I don’t consider 699 doc fee in NJ to be usual at all. Anything more than 399 gets my hair up.

I agree but most seem to like to throw that number out there. Thanks, I will try to bring it down.

That’s a rip-off. Paying $325 for a civic hatchback EX?
Thats accord sport 1.5 special edition money right there. Heck you could probably pick up the accord sport 1.5 special edition for less than $325 a month.
Walk away from that totally overpriced lease. Last model year too.

Keep in mind, an all new redesigned 2022 11th gen Civic is coming out this year. That is the reason I went with the Accord this time around - after leasing two Civics before

This is so helpful, you’re awesome!

Whenever I do my calculations, until I hear otherwise my default values for NJ Doc fees and DMV are always 400 and 350 respectively. Anything more than that and I’m adjusting my dealer discount target accordingly.

Thanks guys. I’m still new to this so was just looking to make sure I was understanding the breakdown of the quote. Even with some figures left out, it gave lot more info than I was getting from others via email. Turns out that it is the doc fee that’s omitted but I’ve spent the day going back and forth with multiple dealerships and I currently have an offer of $289/month with just first month at signing (and their doc fee is $495). Still working on it but glad I’m making progress. Thanks to all for the recommendations and insight!

289 is still tooooo high. It’s a last model year!! Even if you have to go to NY or CT you should. No need to stay directly in NJ

Have you established your target deal based on the lease programs as they apply to you and a researched pre-incentive discount so that you have a baseline value to compare these deals to?

If no, why not?

I literally just made an account just for this thread because I was also looking for a good deal on a 2021 Civic EX but the hatchback version. Cheapest place I found was 8 hours from me in New Jersey (lucky for you). I attached the invoice I received for reference. I talked to Joy and she said the normal EX should be even cheaper than the hatchback. They are also doing some presidents day sale and there’s potential to get even more off. I’m not affiliated with them in any way. I’ll be talking to Joy in the morning to see what kind of extra incentives they will have. If you can’t dee the picture, it’s $1500 due at signing and $188.29 after taxes and fees. I have some questions about the buyout per the fine print. Most likely at this price you could sell for more than the residual. Happy hunting. Let me know if you try this and there is some fee that’s not shown on here. I’ll do the same.

This deal looks way too good to be true. I did a little research on this dealership (Yelp), and they have a ton of one star reviews for bait and switch.

That is a super aggressive discount on a Honda which I find hard to believe

I did happen to look into it and told the person I wanted the price exactly as if I were walking out the door and they did not comply. They just said come in. I’m sure they were going to add some extra stuff when I got there based on the reviews you mentioned.

I continued to search and SunnySide Honda near Cleveland had the next best deal and it was $260 with $600 down after all taxes and fees for a 2021 Civic Ex Hatchback in Sonic Gray. They sent an invoice and everything. Ask for Mike. He answered all my question super quick.

That’s a solid deal on an EX Hatch
