I am considering working with Omega Auto Group for a lease on a Volvo PHEV. I’m in California. Omega requires that you pay upfront before you see what the deal/offer is. Lots of good reviews here on Omega but the payment upfront makes me nervous. Can anyone who has worked with them explain how it actually works? What if Omega can’t find you a good deal or you find a much better deal elsewhere? Are you SOL and you lose the money you gave to Omega? Thanks!
Why would you even entertain such a proposal?
There’s a ton of information in the Marketplace, especially for California. Easy to determine what works for you.
Because they have excellent reviews on this forum, Google, Yelp, etc. I can understand them not wanting to do a lot of work upfront when you can just walk away at any minute. But I’d like to hear people’s experiences.
Err… isn’t that the purpose of “reviews”?
Or are you looking for negative feedback? Are you looking for folks to go out on a limb and say what’s not been said?
Why not just ask them what their policy is if they can’t find a deal? If they respond the fee is not returnable then you have your answer.
Personally, I never pay upfront and advise others the same. Plenty of brokers on here that post what’s available without a fee paid upfront.
For Volvo, I see Benedetto has started offering to the West though it seems to be delivery from the mid-West. He still might be cheaper than others so worth it to check with him as well on Volvos.
Well, I don’t have much time to sort this out and the reviews don’t really speak to my questions like how long does one have to wait for a deal, what happens if they can’t find a deal, etc.
I did ask about their policy and it was unclear to me so I wanted to hear from others. The reviews said that communication is poor before payment and good after, which makes sense. But it makes it hard to get the answer to my questions such as what happens if they can’t source the car, etc.
Personally, that’s a non-starter
What if we told you don’t worry about it you can trust them with your money? Would you be more inclined to send them $1000 while still being unclear on what you’re getting or what the terms are?
You can see their existing deals in https://omegaautogroup.com. You can also customize any deal based on the deal calculator.
Hi, did you have any luck working with them? I know exactly why you posted this and the process you went through. Seth doesn’t explain things, just says “you need to pay the $1400 upfront and we will get the car in the color you want”, but there is no contract, no protection if the deal falls through and they don’t want to refund your upfront fees. They also don’t pick up their calls and their mailbox is full. But they have good reviews and no one is saying they got scammed. Very confusing and frustrating.
The only thing a broker should be charging upfront is his Broker Fees. It can be the full amount or a portion of their fees whatever structure they put forward. That being said, if someone is asking for an amount other than broker fees and you are not comfortable, you can always move on to another broker.
Shyt give me 1400 upfront and I’ll find you anything you want too. Especially if I get to pick the price
Ps I’ll answer my texts and my mailbox is never full.

@Kev510 did you proceed with Omega? Feeling the same. Deals look great but service is sketchy as hell.
@littleviolette I feel like we should have a policy against pre charging.
Brokers don’t offer anything magical, they just save you some time. You can do most of the deals yourself (except for envision dealerships).
It’s like taxes. You can do what a CPA does. You just pay for convenience
