Question - Returning a lease with over mileage and passed warranty

Hello, have a question in regards to my specific situation, as Ive never encountered this on any of my previous leases

Currently in a 39m/39k mile lease on my Volvo with 6 months to go, and already over on the miles, so by the time i return it I will be around 52-53k miles. The excess mileage penalty is fine, but will there be any issues with returning the lease now that the car is past the 50k mile factory warranty?

They do have a program to turn it in early for another Volvo and they’ll cover 6 payments, but I rather lease a different vehicle next.

Alternatively, seems like Carvana will give a good amount to purchase the car now, but I havent had any time to look for other cars and lease deals. Plus, I had about $6500 is MSD’s, how would that be handled if I sold to Carvana?

thanks!

Doesn’t matter if it’s out of warranty as long as any warning lights aren’t on.

Your crystal ball is as good as mine

When you call VCFS for the payoff, be certain it’s the third-party payoff, excluding your MSD and you will get those back.

no lights on… just did an oil change and they reset the light, albeit it was overdue couple thousand miles

reworded my original post… meant any issues with returning the lease now that the car is past the 50k factory warranty

thanks for the heads up about the 3rd party payoff, ill double check it

As @joeblogs said

We always recommend a pre-return inspection from Autovin to get an estimate of anything you might owe in addition to over mileage charge. Keep in mind if anything mechanical does break outside the warranty, you’re on the hook to fix it. But if you haven’t had problems, I wouldn’t worry about those last few thousand over.

One of the main reasons many people lease cars is so they will not face any repair costs. I would be concerned about being out of warranty for any time on a Volvo. Problems are more likely to occur as the mileage increases.

I second this on any euro mobile, no warranty is no good, one light and it’s potentially $1000, I’d be looking to get out of this thing ASAP
