Pull Ahead Question

,

I have 9 months left on a RX350 lease. Are any manufacturers offering 6-9 month pull ahead? If not, I do not mind waiting until lease end. Still under mileage. Are there any instances where the value of a vehicle with term left is greater than the RV resulting in positive equity?

The only one that matters for you is Lexus. No brands do pull aheads for other brands.

You have at least 3 months before you worry about it, check with Lexus then to see if they are running any manufacturer lease pull-aheads then.

That is entirely manufacturer and model specific. Do a little more research online, reach out to your Lexus dealer, etc. to see what if any options you have. I have 8 payments remaining on my lease and have not surprisingly already received an email from Audi re: pull head program at 3 months.

As to lease equity, sure, there are some instances where the residual is less than market value and typically many more instances where it’s more. Not sure what else you’re asking here.

Thanks. That answers my question. I did not know pull ahead was only for same manufacturer.

To clarify, reach out to your Lexus dealer to see if there is a Manufacturer sponsored Pull-ahead. Don’t fall for the gimmick when the dealer says “sure there is,” while he just rolls your payments into the new lease.

Yep, great point of clarification.

Thank you. Will manufacturer sponsor pull aheads be available to view on their website to verify or is it found on third party websites such as Edmunds?

On my 4th RX350 for my wife (she swears by it), each time 3 months before lease end I got a mailer from Lexus Financial offering 3 month pull-ahead. Real pull ahead, they would waive last 3 payments if new lexus is leased. But always no more than 3. And with current situation, who knows if it happens this time.

They all do it differently. Usually, you’d get something in email/snail mail from the captive indicative of a manufacture sponsored pull-ahead offer though.

Thanks for the info. I am on my 12th Lexus lease and I must have disregarded the mailer every time!

No prob. And from what I remember, you don’t need physical mailer to take advantage of pull ahead. Your account would have specific code assigned to it that every lexus dealer would be able to look up and use.

To clarify - 2: there was a pull ahead offered by Volvo on S90 for other brands, I think it was up to $4,500. So, our friend @jeisensc is not 100% correct, but for the most part.

When am I ever 100% correct?

Better @Ursus?

Edit: technically that makes it conquest and not a pull-ahead, no?

No, it does not. Because it was called “pull ahead” by Volvo

And dealers call their advertised specials “good deals”; doesn’t mean they actually are.

Guess it depends on the specific offer terms:

  1. Manufacturer A offers an additional rebate on a new lease equal to 3 payments of your existing soon-to-expire lease on Mfr B

  2. Mfr A offers to fully payoff any existing Mfr B lease within 3 months left (thus ending the contract) as an incentive to get you into a new lease. I don’t know how anyone could realistically offer this.

I’ve seen type 1 incentives here and there although I would never consider this a true pull ahead as you’re still on the hook for the remaining payments of your soon-to-expire lease. Porsche offers this type of conquest incentive all the time as an example.

And polar bear and brown bear are technically the same, so?

Just because a koala bear is called a koala bear, doesn’t mean it’s a bear.

Exactly. You proved my point

That a “pull-ahead” is actually a conquest, even if volvo mislabels it as a koala bear?
