I was about to come to post this too! just hopping on the bandwagon just in case I need to get a Costco auto deal in the future.
Costco has their summer deal going around where you get a $40 Costco Shop Card, another $40 off a $250 online purchase. It might be useful for those rebates they usually offer and you get the membership effectively at $20 or less. Auto-renewal is required and when I did it last year, the gift card took about 1 month or so to get it.

Is it only for online?
You have to buy online but can use it at the store, online, gas station, etc.
Pardon my stupidity but what exactly do they mean by auto renew? Does that mean after one year if I don’t decide to continue my membership they will auto renew it? Or can I get out of the membership if I decide to?
Membership auto renews annually, and you can cancel/refund at any time, no hassles.
After you spend the new member incentives, just go into your account and uncheck the auto-renew box.
I’d be surprised if you even have to wait that long, but who wants to make a phone call? 
I still just don’t get people who wouldn’t renew Costco unless you don’t live near one.

How do I find out which companies (audi, chevy, volvo, etc.) offer discounts if you have a Costco membership? Also, does it matter which level of Costco membership you have (Executive or Gold Star)?
Any level but the key is you have to be a member before it starts which was 8/1/22
