Are we responsible for property tax in NC when leasing a car? or is that rolled into the monthly payment? I am looking to lease out of state and dealer is saying , the monthly payment includes property tax.
Not sure how it can be included (estimated?) when the state calculates the tax and sends the bill to the car owner (leasing company). Maybe Lexus is different, but Volvo just bills lessee for property tax once a year when it receives the bill from the state.
Edit: Yeah, on line 19 it says Est, so Lexus estimates it then.
You’ll get a separate bill from the state. That’s how it was for MB.
For both BMW and Audi for my VA lease, they received the tax bill from the state, and then tacked the tax bill onto my monthly statement for one of my monthly payments. They’re a bit flexible about paying it all at once though – just call them and they let you split it into 2 or 3 payments without issues.
