Pro Tip: Avoid Mercedes Electric Vehicles

Pretty ridiculous, and some people say this is the sustainable future. Nothing sustainable when in 10 years these cars will all be crushed

Someone in the thread said MB doesn’t have battery fire issues :joy: Guys, anyone remember the ship that sank because of an MB EV battery fire or the recent high rise fire overseas because of a parked MB EV that spontaneously combusted?
Not good! Scares me … Shoot, I’m scared to park our Lucid in the garage half the time. I just moved it outside

When the car first went into the shop, I would think you would have taken a loaner. Then kept the loaner until the car was fixed. That loaner could have been your ride back up north. What an I missing? Like someone said :point_up_2: free car (or at least free miles on the lease).

My eqs suv was lemoned as well 2 months after buying. Lemoned on a road trip and it’s really bad. Got reimbursed for all my extra hotel stays and car rental money though so it wasn’t too bad.

Didn’t get a replacement either, asked about it and they said to just go get another car with money refunded. It’s pretty unlikely you will get replaced with a 2024 model especially since they have way worse deals.

Still got another mercedes Amg eqe to replace it though because it’s 600 a month. So far so good.

Yes we always had a loaner and it was all free miles lol.

The best smiles are made with free miles. :joy:

Because I like the car?

The only other car I really want would be a Taycan GTS. Daily driving the EQS is awesome and they have a 10 year 155k battery warranty

If build quality is genuinely terrible on most units, it’s a different story. But mine has been perfect, just don’t want to pay the residual which is overvalued

Daily driving that boat sucks - soft ass brake pedal requires laser like focus when driving

6,000 pound rolly Polly boat is only good when going 80 mph on open highway - air suspension shines

Sure you got a killer deal but this reeks of entitlement.

You can’t say they told you to go F yourself, they bought it back and probably didn’t want to have you as a customer again. Plus you’re asking for more for the same price.

Standard practice is a buy back, anything on top is a nice consolation but not your given right.

I would’ve raised hell on the 30th day that the car was in the shop, not 6 weeks later. Actually, if my car that was 3 days old had serious issues, I would have demanded a resolution from the dealer at that point.

Realistically if you get a 2022 at $40k, you have 8 years left on the battery warranty but everything else like electronics, air suspension etc will fail long before that.

Perhaps that is where a Fidelity Platinum warranty or something similar to that like CarMax Max Care warranty comes in? I know they cover pretty much everything - so it would be a pretty good value

1 - have you not tried strong regen or intelligent mode??? Former mostly fixes the brake pedal issue, latter lets you relax to a point of laziness - exact opposite of what you’re doing for no apparent reason.

2 - having maxed out psi per specs and sport mode make it a wee bit less floaty. Really wish they offered a sports package with stiffer suspension.

Of course, you can always step up to an AMG which suffers zero floatiness and has much more aggressive OPD tuning in strong regen mode.

Unfortunate that you experienced this situation. Mercedes (and other manufacturers) have a formula and protocol for dealing with lemons and all your bashing is not going to move the needle. 10 years ago, you would have have an easier time with subsitition of collateal but the policies have changed because the frequency of problems have increased. I would just move on and realize that EVs are still in their infancy and will expeience many problems. Pricing is the only thing going for it. Where can you find a $115,000 MSRP vehicle for less than $700 a month and not understand that you are taking on more risk.

Gonna have to disagree, then - I really enjoy the ride quality and the quietness.

Only learned that after driving this car a bunch then hopping into other luxury vehicles, gas or electric, in rentals :joy:

I do dislike the self driving functions though, it is much jerkier than it should be.

Did you file a trip interruption claim? MB will reimburse for certain expenses.

Day 783 of telling people to stop getting any electric car (and chryslers)

Nothing wrong with electric cars IMHO as a markedly early adopter but I do think they should be sold on their own merits rather than subsidized heavily.

There are things that they are great for and things better suited to fossil powered cars and like anything else in a market economy – One size does not fit all and we shouldn’t be forcing the outcome.
