Positive equity and replacement options in the current market

Are you fixated on a BMW?

You’re in socal, right? Why don’t you check the marketplace for brokers who are offering fair pricing given the current market on the X3?

How do you figure? You can purchase pre-paid maintenance for MBs and Audis, and Genesis comes with maintenance included.

If you’re going to light your $ on fire, why not at least try something other than a BMW for variety?

Didn’t realize “included maintenance” was the reason to choose BMW and only BMW.

It’s included or can be included on any luxury brand lease.

Some of the others actually cover more than BMW’s barebones coverage which basically equates to annual oil changes.

Are you shopping at the same BMW dealership where your significant other sold their X4 to and profited $11k? If so, run away from that dealership .

While you made out well, they’ll want to recoup all that money by selling you an X3 way above MSRP and mark up the MF to the max .

If you’re stuck on BMW, shop the marketplace. Brokers are offering discounts (although small currently) on X3’s.

By no means, roll that $11k into any new lease. Keep it in the bank to pay the monthly on the new lease.

If you don’t know what you’re doing (which seems so), it is worth paying a broker to lease another BMW

Good luck

Availability is also a huge factor and the lease numbers. For example, Jaguar has included maintenance but the lease numbers are even more tragic. He likes BMW.

They aren’t screwing with the numbers. The market is bad.

That may be going rate for an X4 but certainly not worth it.

He just doesn’t want to buy. He’s stubborn. He never expected to have equity in the X4. Still, these lease deals are nauseating. I agree with all of you. I wouldn’t pay $1000/month to lease the same vehicle that I pay $1483/month to own. It doesn’t make sense. Hopefully, the negative commentary with give him some food for thought.

Jaguar has never really been in the discussion for leases. You should check out the LH Marketplace for other brands such as Volvo, Acura, Infiniti, Lexus, Audi, etc.

Since it seems like you have some sense, let husband know that what he is asking you to do is completely batsh*t crazy from a financual perspective.

Of course all that equity you got was going to go to hell if you get the exact same car in the exact same market.

We sold to a third party. X4 deal is from a dealer. X3 deal is the better of two broker deals. All separate entities.

Take the broker deal but for the love of god, don’t put that much money down.

These are always tough threads to provide advice in. Rarely if ever does the third party not involved in these discussions ever take the advice.

Consider other stores for a deal and don’t put any money down. Besides that, be prepared to make a terrible financial decision.

So, BMW is the only option? Can you find out why they are fixated on a BMW. Other brands give included maintenance if that’s the reason.

If he doesn’t listen to good advice from you, why would he listen to random forum people?

Avoid using money down. You do not recover it in a totaled car accident.

Be prepared for the Nth version of everyone’s favorite thread:

Car was totaled, insurance company offered this many thousands above the balance, and the car company kept it all. Please help!

Might be easier and cheaper to find someone else who is not so stubborn?

Ending an 18-year relationship over a BMW lease does seem a bit extreme. : )
He “heard” the feedback from this forum. He is looking at alternatives and reassessing his decision to put $$$ down. You guys helped tremendously. He needed to “hear” it from someone other than me - the purpose of my post. THANK YOU!

Have you looked at offerings for Volvo right now? An XC60 should not be nearly close to the price of the BMWs and has included maintenance.
