I can’t speak to the legality of it, but they do make holders for the safety check tab.
LOL the plate has an extension for the inspection sticker lord
Ohhh I remember this. Dealer put it on and I’m like please do not… said it’s mandatory especially if it’s going to mainland lol.
Everyone thought I was from Hawaii. Some lady even talked to me for 45min about Hawaii. I’m like lady, I just bought the car from there… she was like ohhhh well I’m sorry to talk off your ear but I miss it so much
How the fuck was it cheaper to buy a car in Hawaii and export it back to the Atlantic Coast … than just buying in the continental-48?
Might have been transport damaged by Matson?
65K MSRP, 10K clean vehicle incentive, comes out to 600/month with zero down (DAS covered by costco 2k).
I’ll say I sat in one after sitting in a Lucid Touring and it was depressing. I probably would have liked it a lot more if I hadn’t done it in that order but the interior felt tiny and cheap.
How are some of the marketplace deals coming in around $300/month with zero down? What am I missing?
PSA: try sitting in one even before wasting your time on the website.
The interior feels like a Miata because it is that tight. I bet most of you guys will nope out in 5 seconds.
Get an EV6 instead. Very similar form factor with decent interior space. Some Kia dealers are not that horrible.
It was a used x5M and gas was like $9? In Hawaii. No one was buying it
Still $15K cheaper then one I can find here within 48.
That have dealers discounting. My local polestar won’t but it would appear that others will to move the metal.
There was one down the street from me but it had a Lithia Anchorage license plate frame, so I figured it might be legit.
That law killed a deal for me. This poor guy ended up with an Australian military export vehicle, then Hawaii said “No reg for military vehicles.” I was willing to buy it and ship it to the mainland (no state here cares what it used to be), but the shipper told me to walk away because there was no way to get it off the island a Roll-on, Roll-off shipment.
I have a neighbor who last lived in Alaska sometime during the first Obama administration. Yet mysteriously, all his cars still have AK plates.
My first reaction was “find another one” then I realized there’s only one in the state?
Maybe @Bostoncarconcierge can wear them down.
Can you buy from another state or required to buy in your home state?
Same question, also has anyone pulled any deals. I could pickup in Houston, Nashville, or ATL… anyone getting discounts from these dealers?
I signed up to a Costco membership after April 30th deadline for this deal. Is there any way to get the $2,000 Costco deal from the dealer or Polestar directly?
I believe time travel would work
Short answer is No. BTW, the incentive is through Costco. Here is the fine priint from the promotion:
To qualify for the Polestar Limited-Time Special, you must: (1) be a current Costco member on or before April 30, 2024; (2) register with Costco Auto Program online or through its call center by July 31, 2024 to receive a certificate with your unique promotion code; (3) present your certificate and unique promotion code to any Polestar dealer at time of visit; (4) place order between May 1, 2024 and July 31, 2024 of an eligible Polestar 2 model to receive a $2,000 Costco member-only incentive. The incentive will be applied at time of purchase or lease and is compatible with other eligible Polestar incentives for which the Costco member qualifies. Program not available in Puerto Rico, Alaska, Hawaii. Only one (1) promotion code allowed per vehicle. Limit two (2) promotion codes per membership. Incentive is subject to change due to vehicle inventory availability. Costco and its affiliates do not sell automobiles or negotiate individual transactions.
