Paint Chip Issue and Toyota Warranty

Has anyone dealt with Toyota in regards to warranty on the paint? I have what appears to be a chip on the hood of our 2022 Highlander and there is a big rust spot around it already.

It’s on the horizontal surface of the hood, so I am pretty confused as to how something could have caused enough damage to chip off the clear, base, and primer.

Chips that cause rust would probably not be covered.

They do have a note about white paint flaking off the fenders. I forget where I saw it.

You can always ask because it’s a 2022 and it’s rusting already? dang

Edit : This LINK says they will cover it if it makes a hole all the way through

An egg can do that btw.

Thanks for all the info! One dealer I contacted said that 2022 are not covered by the recall about paint flaking off the fenders.

Think I will take it to the dealer I have brought it to for an alignment issue that they got covered under warranty.

Is the color wind chill pearl? I heard of issues of Super White, but not wcp.

These issues tend to not be covered. I had paint chipping on my stinger and the dealership just said it was my bad driving habits driving behind trucks on the highway (weird to make assumptions?). Kia then issued a mass recall for my car with my paint color for paint chipping issues and bought it back.

Maybe apples/oranges, and it’s been a while, but in 2014 I had a similar issue with the paint coming off my 2013 Ford C-max (tri-coat white) and they covered / repaired it under warranty without any fuss. After that, and every unsuccessful touch-up attempt, I swore off multiprocess paint colors.

The worst they can say is no.

it is windchill pearl, its weird because both my Rav4 and avalanche have way more chipping an no rust spots. I know multiprocess paint sucks to repair
