Out of state purchase

Fellow hackers,

Just a question as to whats required to lease or purchase a vehicle out of state? I have searched the topic, but it brings up specific deals. Any info is much appreciated.

Nothing is required except finding a dealer that is willing to sell out of state. It seems many CA dealers won’t do this. It might be easier to use a broker to guide you through the process.

Are there any brokers on LH that deal with NV or CA to NV?

What make/model are you looking for? Lease or purchase?

It really does vary and depend. I’ll give you some context - some dealers will do finance/cash out-of-state deals, but not leases. Some won’t even touch out-of-state. Some dealers will let their high-volume cars (e.g. Porsche Macan) go out, but low-volume specialty ones stay close to home (911).

A VW GTI or R model, CA dealer said lease or purchase is fine. I just dont want any strange things to happer if and when I do get down there. Im guessing they roll their tax into the deal and then when I register the vehicle in NV I pay the dirrerence or get some back if lower tax rate? Any brokers that deal with both states?

Assuming you are in NV and lease a car from a CA dealer, you are only going to pay NV taxes. That is why you need to find a dealer that knows how to handle NV leases. I am sure there are brokers here that can help.

Ok thank you

Make sure they ship it otherwise CA taxes are in play

So dont fly in and drive it back. Let them ship it here so only NV taxes in play? I was told pay CA taxes on deal then when registering in NV the difference needs to be paid.
