If only there was a calculator that out lined this…I wish
So it sounds like not having a local address is a benefit here to avoid the upfront tax. So then why are dealers or brokers refusing out of state deals? It sounds like less of a hassle to avoid the local taxes and write the contract for a California address.
Or is Nissan finance refusing to include local NE incentives and the 18 month option for non NE lessee addresses?
I guess I’m still trying to understand how these all intertwine together to produce a $180 monthly payment in NJ that can’t be replicated anywhere else even when taxes are collected monthly on the base payment.
They wouldn’t really be Northeast Incentives if they applied in California…
the way nmac works is you provide a vin and a zip for where the vehicle is going to be registered to. Then your incentives are generated.
How is it less of a hassle when 99% of their deals are written the same vs trying to deal with a one-off deal involving mix-and-match incentives, taxes, fraud addresses, etc?
Is there a way to see what incentives and lease durations are available for each state or region for the Ariya? I’m not married to New Jersey, per se, but the short term lease is the most important term that I’m looking for.
Reach out to anyone with NNAnet (dealer broker)
I haven’t seen anything that suggests an 18 month lease option is only available in the NE.
The specific extra incentive for North East is only available in the North East.
If you want to to find out incentives, the easiest way is to sign up as a super supporter and use rate findr.
I’m still curious how you’re planning on generating residency in these states.
I have access to a residence on Long Island, that part I’m not concerned about, but it would really be helpful to understand how I can get a west coast dealer to do an 18 month lease on the Ariya and how much of a discount is being generated by the incentives in each region.
If I can get an Ariya in California or Nevada for within $100-150/mo of what I would be paying in New Jersey with the same drive-off and terms, I would rather do it locally, but if we’re talking about $200 in New York and $495 in California, then I’ll be figuring how to do the NY deal.
No different than when I leased my RX350h many years ago in California, even though I was living in Florida. I had access to a family residence in California, so it was easy to do. The only one screaming and stomping their feet was JM Lexus in Florida, the California dealer was thrilled to have my business.
he means me
Fortunately, this question has already been answered
No way

Ask them to. If they won’t, move on to another dealer. I bet most aren’t even aware it exists.
Both the Southern CA and Northern CA business centers for Nissan show 18 month lease options available on the Ariya
CA looks to also have $1000 dealer cash that eats into the NE extra incentives.
no 18 month prog for CA. i checked. given that nissan, among other brands, applies rebate based on registration zip code, this is unlikely to be matched.
so why the hostility towards out of state customers if someone is coming into the dealership to pick up the car and has an initial registration address valid for the incentives and lease term?
a) nobody ever has in the 7 years i’ve been on this forum. every single such inquiry was a waste of time
b) that client will never ever come back or refer any follow up business
c) again - you cannot do a no-tax deal in nj without a valid nj drivers license. you CAN register a car in NJ with 6 points of ID. To get no tax, you have to have an ST-4 submitted and no dealer will file that for you without an nj license.
Wouldn’t be the first time mdesking misreports, but odd that it’s showing the mf/rv/regional incentives for it
a) I am inquiring because I am generally interested, but I cannot commit until I test drive the Ariya which I will do here locally. I wouldn’t waste your time on setting up a deal until I’m ready. This is not my first cross-country lease, so I know what to prepare so everything can be completed smoothly
b) while you wouldn’t likely see me again for 18+ months, if we have a good transaction, why would I not refer business to you?
c) understood - assuming the car is not permanently registered in NJ, and is initially registered in NY state, do you know off-hand how much the NJ tax (or NY tax) would increase the monthly payment? Are we talking $100/mo? Or is it an upfront payment that needs to be made as part of the drive-off? Understanding this point is what can make or break this plan.
but we’re not, in the out of region business.
