Out of Range and Shopping for a Lease?

So, I was shopping for a 740i BMW here in Los Angeles for a lease, but the two BMW dealerships in reasonable range both had really bad lease terms. I had a broker here from this site reach out to try and make a deal, but it wasn’t in the area and they needed me there to make the deal. So should I just start calling random BMW dealerships from here to Maine and see if they can’t send a vehicle out this way? The 740i, unbeliveably, is a very hard vehicle to find right now, which makes things even harder for me.

I found 29 vehicles within 100 miles of Beverly Hills BMW. I don’t know exactly where you are located, but check BMWUSA.com to see inventory in your area.

Interesting. Definitely helped out! Lemme start here. Thanks for the assist!

So, visited two BMW dealerships in Los Angeles area and both deals were horrible. Figured the next step is to start reaching out to further ranged dealerships and start seeing if they’ll get me a better quote over the phone given where I started and knowing a few more things now (the 1% MSRP guideline, no downpayments, etc)

But is there a specific “Here’s what you’re going to want to say” script out there that can let them know “Hey, you can dispense with the games, I will just take this quote and get it confirmed over at Leasehackr”

Thanks!

Since you walked in, they will laugh and say Leasehackr is wrong

Make offers to all CA dealers. Make sure they are educated offers. You don’t need to reach out all the way to Maine, you live in BMW heaven (CA).

This is not a valid guideline. And youre far better emailing to make an unambiguous, immediately actionable offer that spamming dealers asking for quotes.

If youre asking for quotes, youre already setting yourself up for failure.

An LH broker needed you to roll down to the dealership to get the deal done? How far along the process were you at with the broker?

Oh, it was all the way up in San Francisco. Said they had one but that I would need to come up there. It was a simple email back and forth, that’s all.

Fair point

And why is that not a valid guideline? I was literally getting pummeled on Reddit for not knowing and living by it?

It doesnt hold up to even the most basic of scrutiny. There are vehicles where 1% is impossible and vehicles where 1% would have you overpaying by thousands and thousands of dollars. There are vehicles where the same dealer discount would be .75% for one person and 1.25% for another because of differences in taxes, incentives, etc.

It does nothing to tell you if something is a good deal or not.

I’d just reach out to CA LH brokers on the forum before I start contacting dealers. As always, in LA, I’d never reach out to dealers directly for a BMW deal because it’s just so easy to get an aggressive deal via a broker on the forum (unless you want a specific color/spec at a specific dealer).
Even if they don’t openly advertise they can probably still get access to a 740 with a better deal than what you have currently.
Good luck.

We also have at least one So Cal BMW dealer in the marketplace with positive reviews. I’m not sure id discount reaching out to an active dealer in the LH ecosystem as a blanket statement.

So OP wants 15% LOCALLY and can’t find it…so maybe their title of Out of Range might be correct
Edit, out of range distance wise, not discount wise

How’d you get this insightful with only 1 hour of read time here? :joy:

I stand corrected. There were two people who said that they didn’t want to come in person at the same time, and the other person asked for more than 15%. I deleted my reply.

Dont go into the dealership. Forget about the 1% rule
