Ordered a 2020 Tesla Standard Range Plus MSRP $39,990

If it’s just a city car and you’re budget conscious, get a bolt lease. Otherwise. You can’t go wrong w the Tesla.

Here’s a pic of mine. This is as base as an SR+ gets (free paint/black interior/aero wheels). I had a Bolt hack from Jan I transferred for a $2k profit. I wanted to stay electric for a work commute I do where there is a Tesla supercharger in the middle. It’s a really fun car to drive and overall a much better EV than a Bolt, but the Bolt value still can’t be matched.

Wow that is a long time! have you been approved yet and now just waiting for letter?

“Letter” is delivered through e-mail, unless you opt out for a mailed paper approval packet (don’t recommend it though) Mine took about a month-but I had submitted all paperwork and watched all videos in the same 2 hrs I applied… if you delay documents, it adds to the wait times too.

Thank you… Can’t wait!

Same here, finished the application within 2 hours and submitted all required docs. Still, it’s been 6 weeks still not a word.

Wait, you submitted application for a lease and Tesla has not provided the result (approved / declined) for 6 weeks?!

That’s really a long time. I got approved from ICE manufacturers in a day. Also, what “required” documents do they need?

Haha, no-he is referring to the CVAP grant application for $5,000

Oooh… my bad.

Does anyone know how Tesla calculates their leases currently?

Do they have a residual and MF set across the board or does it vary by region? Do they calculate based off MSRP or selling price?

Any current data points on model 3 lease structure?

Doesn’t directly answer your questions, but this Tesla lease calculator helps.

There’s no zip code entry so I think the rates are national. You can see the RV/MF effects of different trims/models using the same msrp on different models/trims. Leasing remains not the way to go on a Tesla.

You enter the delivery zip code and it adjusts it for various local taxes.

Additionally the MF and residual may vary by packages.

I still cant tell if the residual is based off selling price or msrp.

Get lease worksheet from your Tesla Sales Advisor from the store. It’s based on “vehicle price”.

I have to say the lease is pretty bad, though. MF is 0.002375 with RV of 57% (36/12). Might as well finance it.

Even with a minor carfax you will always beat the RV set by USB on a Model 3 or Model Y. MS, MX are a little more questionable but are still relatively strong.

RV is based on selling price iirc too. Makes it even worse when you have a discounted car.

There was a brief window in time where that wasn’t the case and USB was not happy with Tesla over it.

Nice car! hope your enjoying it.

how’s the drive on it compared to the other EV on the market today?

still not sure if I can pull the trigger for an all electric vehicle.

Not sure with with M3 or MY, but the worksheet Tesla gave me for Model X (white exteriro, no FSD) show this:

1). Finance (72 months): $1,272 / month ($3K down)
2). Lease (36/12): $1,273 / month ($3K down)

So seems that finance is a better approach.

As for RV, again, not sure how it goes but the Model S have been dropping in price, which in turn will affect resale value:

2018: $96,000
1/2019: $93,000
2/2019: $83,000
3/2019: $86,000
6/2019: $80,000
5/2020: $75,000
10/2020: $72,000 -> $69,420

I am very happy with it thus far. I haven’t driven any other EV-(I’ve never ever test drove any of my previously owned cars either). Compared to my '17 Hellcat-it is quicker at launch and I drive it in SPORT mode all the time, so handling has been superb. The AUTO PILOT is a great feature-I use it all the time and car handles very well while in AP. Didn’t feel the itch for the FULL AP at $8,000 upgrade as of yet, so sticking with the basic AP features.

I only charge it at Superchargers $0.19-$0.22 per kwh, so 250 miles cost me roughly $10 which is still 3 times cheaper than a gas car (they gave me 1000 miles of FREE charging) or EvGo network chargers will have $1,000 card sent to me for FREE, at home would be a lot cheaper-but live in an apartment so no way to charge at home at $0.04/kwh plugged in once at a FREE Volta charging station-but it is slow to charge and 2 hrs maybe gain 50 miles of charge… so, all in all very satisfied with it and plan to get the Cybertruck when it comes out in 2021/22
