Hi, I am looking at a potential assumption of a One-Pay lease in Southern California and it appears that the transfer process is generally straightforward with GMF (process transfer paperwork, credit check and file proper docs with CA DMV).
One question that I could not get answered when googling and speaking with GMF relates to sales taxes payable/due (if any) with a same-state One-Pay lease transfer. My initial thought is that since the original One-Pay lease was completed in CA, then all the sales taxes due were already included in the original One-Pay payment.
Has anyone gone through this process and can provide details on if there are taxes due when a One-Pay lease is transferred/assumed?
