One pay car lease and SCRA lease termination

Currently, weighing the pros/cons of one pay lease with a traditional one with the wrinkle being the ever looming possibility of an overseas deployment. On a traditional car lease, the Servicemembers Civil Relief Act (SCRA) allows for early lease termination without penalty. However, under a one pay lease where you have prepaid the full amount, what would happen? Would one get a prorated amount of the one pay lease amount refunded? This would be through Hyundai finance.

Thank you.

Since you ‘prepaid’ I would assume you lose all your monies as the only path to get a prorate is a Total Loss.

Same thing if you get a lease and Make all your payments early or put a large down…all gone.

IMO the onepay MF reduction isn’t enough to justify the possible loss of SCRA protections

If you make a bunch of advance payments, you don’t lose it the way you lose it with CCR. Advance payments needed to be refunded

Interesting, they give them back? They wouldn’t if you sold the car or traded it in.

that’s different. Advance payments might be reflected in the payoff balance quote (depends on captive, some include it, some don’t).

Interesting. So with CCR I would be SOL, but with advance payments I might have recourse.

Thank you

There’s no benefit of doing advance payments in your case though, so doesn’t really make sense to give them money to hold.

Yeah makes sense. So in this case, better to just do a traditional lease with monthly payments.
