I figured somebody would pull that out. I can trust the ones from 2023. I’m guessing you’d agree with that.
Can we ever trust statistics??? As much as I’m a numbers guy, I absolutely detested my stats class in college and just eked out a passing grade. Only learned two things there:
1 - sample size > 30
2 - statistics don’t lie, statisticians do.
I wouldn’t trust when they are bent in the open. Much easier to trust when you don’t know what’s going on behind the scenes lol
Why is everyone complaining about spending an additional $20-$30 per month on gas? This trend occurs with every “war” America is involved in. I’m quite certain the same applies to Ukraine. Please calm down… unless gas prices exceed $200 per barrel, then this thread should be valid.
Are you already forgetting all those BLS statistics under Biden when all but one quarterly report had to have major downward revisions, including one nearly by 1 million jobs? Cannot spell BLS without BS.
vs. hearing president openly saying what numbers (or rates) should be.
In the end, one chooses what to trust or question.
Is it better than having a president that forgets which numbers he’s talking about mid-sentence?
Here we go again. Stay on topic of statistics lol
Actually, I am staying on topic. My position has been all along that you can’t trust any of those numbers.
And I’m not arguing with your position. Read again what I originally said. Again: it’s easier to plead ignorance when you don’t know what’s going on and harder when you do.
So, you prefer lies over gaslighting? Not sure how that helps making an intelligent decision either way. You do remember how to tell when politician is lying, right?
I prefer truth, when/where it’s available
Please do tell, and also which one is your choice lol
Only in the perfect world lol!
Wow this really generated some discussion.

The average American is far more poor and barely hanging on than the cohort on these forums. Most are indeed barely hanging on. BUT, another $2/gallon probably just means adding another credit card and more debt and kicking the can down the road.

All statistics from the government should not be trusted at this point, no matter who is in charge.

We no longer live in a free-market, so if demand (of anything) drops enough, gov will stimulate the crap out of it to keep asset prices from decreasing. So no, I don’t think I’ll be able to buy a cheap gas guzzler.
Got so excited rehearsing kumbaya lyrics that I forgot to answer your last question. So here are both PG-13 and real life versions:
Only 83% of them. ![]()
I’ll go with 99% of them giving the rest a bad name.
Oil trading like GameStop. Just when I thought I’ve seen it all.
Yeah, credit standards have tightened and the days of paying for your $6 per gallon gas for the car people really can’t afford used to drive to the airport for the Disney trip for 4 @ $12k that they really can’t afford are over.
Check out the cc hacker forums and you see people with relatively low DTIs, a high CS and high income getting declined way more than in the past.
It is coming, slowly but surely…
Prices at the pump leveled off in NYC. Filled up at BP 3.39c for regular, $35 all together.
