Oil skyrocketing... deals to come on gas guzzlers?

,

Bingo.

Complain all you want. Like anything else..if you need it, you’re going to pay for it no matter the price :man_shrugging:

It has a wildly oversized impact on the American psyche for many of the reasons discussed here. Something you have to consciously pay for every week is very different from something from expenses like healthcare premiums which just come out of your paycheck along with a bunch of other deductions and you never see the money.

I would say that it shows how ingrained certain aspects of car culture are. Like range anxiety…. How many people are driving 300–400 miles at a stretch on a regular basis? Or the need to be seat, like, 6 other people?

I think the idea of cars in the US are tied to some form of personal freedom and aspirations, and I don’t know if those ideas exist so strongly in other countries/cultures.

Look at the prices in Europe.

You will smile and feel lucky what you pay here. LOL.

It’s been like that forever. Don’t think US drivers are going to start caring….

We were due for a new “will there be a fire sale due to xyz” or “hurry up and buy now bc…” overblown thread.

2025 - Tariffs

2025.5 - end of EV credit

2026 - gas prices

I don’t recall what 2024 was, but definitely something. We survive them all and there’s always deals to be had.

Were there deals in June of 2022 when national regular gas average was just under $5? Oil price $120+.

Go look in leasehackr history.

Although oil prices are about to go back into $70 range…as I type this. Oil was $73 on Feb 28th.

The fundamentals of the market say prices will come down when the war ends. There is enough oil to meet demand below 70 dollars a barrel.

But I would definitely take even money that oil isn’t below 70 a barrel before the end of March.

Oh I had no idea. Never really followed Infinity.

Good to know. Out of curiosity, what did you think of it and the brand?

I’d take that bet

Likely because other countries/cultures have strong public transit systems. Here, without a car, you functionally have no way to get around.

Given how stretched thin everyone is, I’d hardly call complaining about ANOTHER increasing expense as copium. Average citizens of burgerlandia don’t have much left at this point.

My heloc is much cheaper since they lowered rates. Eggs are way cheaper. Prescriptions are cheaper on trump rx. Gas was really low before the blip. But you are right it’s pretty dire out there lol

Ok you’re right everything with the economy is just fine.

no you are right the sky is falling. I almost forgot my tax bill was lower too.

There is a good NY Times graph that shows over the past decade partisan slant, more than anything else, determines how one feels about the economy. Being on here for most of those years, I believe it.

I think you hit the nail on the head here. I can only cite statistics third-quarter growth 4.4% fourth-quarter growth 1.4% with a government shut down. But I’m sure that is slanted in somebody’s view.

I have to say that this specific aspect (w/ regard to how it affects one’s feeling about the economy) has been the most, er, educational (and, quite frankly, eye-opening) aspect of being a participant here (outside of car-related things).

At any rate, and not related to your specific post, let’s return the talk to oil prices and its possible effects on deals for gas guzzlers. TIA.

I’m glad you stepped in. I was just about to cite inflation statistics compared to 2023 for our friends here to illustrate just how dire the situation is lol but yeah, back to the topic

Can we trust current statistics? Yes/No
