CDJR dealerships are by far the worst customer facing experience known to man. What is worse is that a lot of these salespeople started during covid so they have the false presumption that they don’t have to sell to move cars. It may also have to do with the fact that a large percentage of. their clientele can’t get approved, so it might not matter anyway.

This is so true.

I’ve never hunted a Dodge before, but I found the experience of dealing with them all the same and so much different than the European cars. Every single one of them would ask me what I wanted to pay a month. To me that screamed of dealing with inexperienced consumers. When I tell you the RV of the car, that should be your red flag that I’m not an idiot.

OK, a few semi-random thoughts in no particular order:

1 - All those professionals you listed above are typically high earners. This translates into high income taxes, especially in deep blue coastal areas where most of us happen to live. I personally see it as clawing back a small portion of what I have paid into that federal & state garbage disposal/black hole of eternal waste.

2 - Just being persistent and trying to convince a GSM probably won’t get you very far unless they are truly desperate and are capable of seeing the big picture (aka forest behind the trees). In my case, I pretty much had to modify both structures and desk my own deals to convince them to give me a kidney (I settled for the left one). I did manage to piss off that GSM when I tried to offer him help on the third car and gave him my honest assessment of his pricing which I thought needed to be about $2-3k lower. He declined. The car is still there days later discounted $7K… but no more lease support as it is a 2024.

3 - Who cares what most car salespeople think when 95% of them are making a cameo appearance at that store in between flipping burgers, driving Uber or bagging groceries? Even most managers lack business sense, they are just good hustlers.

Can you believe someone wants to dump an Exec package S580E for a EQS? North Olmsted seems to have buyers who are on crack.

That payment sounds terribad though.

Btw you may have missed my alternate to a Charger post for you.

95% of CDJR dealerships people (including finance managers) don’t understand the lease programs well. No one just leases their products. They are confused. I worked with 2 good managers. One of them found a way to secure a deal as soon as he understood I was ready to sign for real. Another one could not get approval from his boss for an extra 1k discount.

The first one, no longer with Jeep, moved to a Range Rover dealership last month…

He claimed to be extremely experienced with subpar and unreliable cars. Hired on the spot!

A point to confirm this - I had a lease return this past April for a 2022 Jeep Gran Cherokee L. Called ahead of time to set up an appointment to get it done. I show up on time; some salesman comes out, I tell him “I have an appointment for a lease return, here’s my car and here are my keys.” He hands me the keys back and tells me to enter the car and give him the mileage… I’m thinking “this is strange, but whatever…” I give him the mileage, he proceeds to hand me a screwdriver and tells me to take the license plate off the car. At this point I’m both amazed at his brashness and getting pissed off because it’s not a joke (as I initially thought) - he’s actually serious. I tell him “This is a very interesting customer service approach” and he tells me “Well, you’re not buying a car from me.” In what world would I buy a car from a person who is this much of an asshole? I hand him the screwdriver, tell him to take it off himself, go talk to a manager to complete my return, and vow to never get a CDJR product ever again.

You know I can totally relate to this. I think it has to do with the fact that you spent a lot of time and energy looking into the outcome you wanted and then when it was denied multiple times you then start to become hyper focused on the deal at hand. I think LH should start a secret wives club (or partner club). Each can have our user names but then append wife/spouse/partner/etc to it. Then they can drink their wine and talk about all the conversations about the hypothetical deals we are targeting.

We making moves?

2024’s aren’t leasable any more. But last month that loaner S580E was a banging lease since there was an extra $7,500 and loyalty. MF and resid wasn’t terri-bad by S-Class standards.

Would have beat that one deal you had been hunting in Alabama a year ago.

This is insane..but I was the guy that “flipped” his c43 amg (granted it was a 2l inline-4) for a wrangler 4xe willy ..not sure I have the footing to say how dumb this is (which it is!) :joy::sweat_smile:
