Official negative equity thread

Transfer but you will be liable for it if something happens.

Bought a house and needed a truck for renovations and now running roughly $6k Negative in my $500/mo 2024 Tacoma TRD Off-Road Prem lease right now, not getting a correct answer weither I’ll still be liable if I do a lease transfer to someone.

Want to swap out as rennovations are done and can just buy a beater truck off marketplace but not wanting to hack into a EV as i don’t have the charging infrastructure nor want to install it. Currently have Benz’s in the house and looking something more daily driver friendly for a 60 mile commute.

Really unsure what to do lmao

Keep the truck

Its a fricking TRD off road premium and you want to trade down and lose money?

You will be looking to trade back up shortly

Steezy needs to ditch his Toyota and C Class and actually fulfill his destiny of hacking an S Class.

See i would if the truck was actually good, i’ve had several recalls and the abysmally terrible fuel consumption makes this truck very hard to own especially on a 60 mile commute that i use it for multiple times a week, i’m getting roughly 200-220 on a full tank. Would much get a dedicated daily driver and a beater truck for any weekend projects or toy hauling

would a f150 lightening make sense?

What would have made great sense was this 2024 S580E for at least 16% off MSRP then stacking on the $7,500 and Loyalty rebates to get a bomb-ass lease. Commuting in a S Class with massaging seats would be nice.

Except Steezy gave up on his S-Class dreams and missed out. Now as @LAK1ngs is aware, 2024 Benz aren’t leasable and the EV rebate is ka-put.. Bummer.

I don’t know why this forum went nuts trying to hack Hornets and Chargers during EV frenzy. Was hoping to see some more Benz deals.

While you have stated ICE>EV (which I agree), you also admitted to liking some of these payments  (which I also agree too lol!).

-I wouldn’t mind splurging but without loyalty, its like missing the cherry on top. I got rid of my c43 as soon as my plates came in and now searching again for something this month to see if I can get rid of the willy 4xe. carvana/carmax both are telling me to come in for appraisal. Even if I break even, Ill be happy with it

I saw the alfa post that you made, may tinker with that idea. Unfortuantely really tried getting to the qx60 and hit up every dealer from IA, MO, NE, KS and MN without luck. Best I got was 8% off MSRP. Same think for CX90 firesale-6% off MSRP was the best I could get. I don’t want to deal with the hassle of shipping and thus am limiting myself for sure. Might wait till december for some sales but then, don’t want to be completely in the red with the wrangler.

But once the new lease ends, you wouldn’t have a car. Did you consider that in your calculation?
If you can show your calculations, maybe people can confirm if the math actually makes sense.

Why not swap a lease it? Its a trd and wanted by a certain group

Lol LH reached new heights with so many people chasing absurdly low EV payments. Taxpayers were helping us drive around in some really nice cars (Benz, BMW, Audi, Porsche, Cadillac, etc). I think we all love the low payments here.

Can you imagine the look on hard working people’s faces if they were asked directly to hand over to Doctors, Tech Bros, Lawyers, and Accountants fat stacks of cash to subsidize a i5, G580, or Taycan? But instead they did the hand-over through taxes. Fun times for us here.

We got some hilariously low payments that are literally offensive to many sales people. Then @212hackr has to rub it in some GSM’s face that he’s got 2 Porsche and a EQS while hunting a $99 monthly Dodge. That Bow Tie guy was visibly disgusted in his video when he was talking about people cheapening the Benz brand hunting bargain EQS. All enabled by Taxpayer cheese.

That was my plan, my payments low for the spec of the car, but no one can give me a clear answer on if I’ll still be liable if I transfer the lease. SwapALease tells me I wont be, TFS says I will be?

SAL literally has Tacoma leases on their site. And Toyota financial says they allow lease transfers in their FAQ. Maybe you used that South East Toyota Finance and not the main Toyota Financial?

https://www.swapalease.com/lease/Toyota/Tacoma/search.aspx

Im interested to know how this shifts expectations for some people, especially the new ones that are just getting into leasing. Not saying ICE vehicles haven’t been cheap previously for their value, but still interesting. In addition, after the current presidential term is over, what then? Again, would be interesting to see.

Agreed

I may copy @z0lt3c and look further into balloon loans again! unfortuantely, going to be moving twice in the next few years so dont want the hassle of dealing with multiple cars in the driveway.

Why does this bother you? Not trying to be a dick, I’m genuinely curious.

The guy wanted me to say the number, I refused to do so (you don’t get the $99 Dodge by saying $99 and I know this), I told him what I wanted to pay as a cap cost for the car (which really wasn’t far off from his advertised price). He insulted me bc he became frustrated, so I flex’d on him. Normally I would’ve just hung up and moved on, but it was a very off day for me and I was becoming increasingly frustrated as my day went on.

I also passed some really strong deals off in exchange for a few Bloomin Onions, and that’s because the kind forum members insisted on giving me something for all of the time I wasted. In hindsight, I should’ve signed the $85k Dodge for $195, but I was determined for 2 figures.

ETA: And I was spot on with my assessment and why I was trying so hard to do so. Instead of being stubborn, they should’ve moved a piece of metal. Now they’ve got Nukes and it’s no sweat off my back.

It doesn’t bother me; I know these EVs are just there for the bargains. 99% of the content on this site is catering to people hunting super-cheap leases on EV.

I just think it’s funny imagining some GSM getting your picture about the nuclear bomb and how their inventory is trash. Like their entire career and livelihood is built around a sales motion that puffs up the value of their product.

Car sales for the vast majority of buyer (who aren’t on LH) involves a dealership sales team trained to maximize stress on the buyer to then in in turn maximize their own margins. Then you come along making fun of their cars being priced over $99 monthly, and it’s actually very funny to picture in my mind. When people on LH don’t get a deal done, they usually just move on (or for @LAK1ngs just keep trying until they get a unicorn BMW i5). But you went out of your way to make fun of the GSM.

I wouldn’t brag about Outback Steakhouse gift cards though. This forum has railroaded people into Ban-Ville over SBUX gift cards.

They should realize when they’re not dealing with a mark. An educated consumer who fully understands the situation (move this car or let it sit and probably sell it for less than I’m offering much later down the road… and I didn’t say this either, this is just the reality of the situation) isn’t a tire kicker as he called me. He had a price of $57,500 and I was at $56k and no garbage add ons. Actually, I don’t remember the exact numbers now that I think about it, but we weren’t far off.

This manager was an a**hole and quite the crappy salesman to boot. Normally I hang up and move on 99 out of 100, but I was frustrated from dealing with Dodge dealerships and my wife yelling at me about how we don’t need a Dodge, this was the 1 out of 100. It was a dark day in my vehicle negotiating life. EV credits RIP, I went out with a bang. I’m still keeping my fingers crossed that Dodge gives me one more crack at it.

At this point, it’s more to say to my wife; hey honey, I’m heading to Sheboygan, Wisconsin. I’ll be back tomorrow with our new Charger Daytona.

On that note actually, if Dodge does give us another crack at it, and there are no posts from this account, my wife has overheard me on the phone negotiating Chargers. If I don’t post anything, please refer to this one as my SOS.

The keys to the Porsche, you’ll leave them in the planter by the door, right? Asking for a friend.
