Off Topic Landfill 5

As I said, don’t waste your time with @max_g.

You said it yourself: “Life is short…”

Ignore the pearl clutching. Threads like this tend to turn into a pile on punching bag.

Going to college is usually the worst financial mistake people have when they graduate from college.

This is getting a lot of traction for something done 1 year ago…lol

No one suggested you were. But there’s a huge gap between “not hurting for money” and having hit milestones for investing and having equity in your home.

If you’re as loaded as you’re trying to imply you could have just bought a M3 or 911 [or insert whatever your dream car is] for cash. You would never have even set foot inside a Hyundai dealership, would you?

But it’s impossible to talk sense into anyone who couldn’t do the simple math of $931x36 to rent something and return for $0 equity vs buying the same car that often sold for $5,000 discount before massive purchase rebates.

I have better things to do than beat a dead horse or bring someone down from the hill they want to die on, so I’ll mute this thread from now on. Please continue convincing yourself that $931 plus the insurance is a perfectly fine payment for someone <2 years out of school.

Max, this response is nothing short of diabolical and utterly unhelpful. Did you never make any financial mistakes in your early 20s? It’s truly better to not say anything if you have nothing of substance to say.

Responses like this drives people away from the forum, not towards it. Which is not good for anyone.

Everyone should just ignore him altogether.

100% agree that the “advice” given is so unhelpful that it will drive people away. You can report these posts all you like but absolutely nothing will be done about it.

The power of the duct tape riddled La-Z-Boy from the parents’ basement on the iPad 5th Gen is strong.

Look, I’m not really sure where the hardon for @max_g comes from and I frankly don’t care. I will say that it’s pretty hilarious hearing you talk about his post count when you are his #1 reply guy.

Max has been here longer than I can remember and he’s helped a lot of people along the way, myself included. We can agree to disagree on a lot of stuff but the point of view he has brought to the forum in recent years re: total cost of ownership does have value. Whether OP can afford an insane monthly nut on an Ioniq is immaterial to understanding how it happened and making sure it doesn’t happen again. Feel free to give whatever contrarian advice you may wish to give, that’s fine. I feel very fortunate to have been put in a position where I can help people here and help this forum grow. From a moderation perspective I consider myself to be pretty laissez faire but I don’t appreciate targeted attacks on others, especially someone who has been an asset to this forum for years. Cut it out. Work it out privately, or don’t. Just stop bringing it here.

Obviously, as your dissertation defense of Little Max shows.

Thanks for your opinion, but I’ll stick with mine.

Your opinions that are germane to the spirit and mission of this forum are more than welcome. I think we would all be better served if you keep your opinions of fellow forum members to yourself going forward.

Again, thanks for your opinion.

It doesn’t look like it’s my opinion, but I guess that’s just my opinion. Perhaps @michael and the other @trusted_legacy_group would like to opine as well.

Give it a rest man. I’m not the only one that has to comment on the ridiculous nonsense posted by Little Max. If you don’t like it, don’t read it.

Perhaps you should refrain from lecturing me with diatribes about the forum rules and instead should be moderating his replies that are not even close to relevant (violation or forum rules), chastising people for innocent mistakes (violation of forum rules), suggesting cars that would never be cross-shopped under any circumstances (violation of forum rules as off-topic) and that leasing doesn’t work for TCO on LHer of all places.

It is the kind of response that I would get on Reddit when I posted this question there. They were really kicking me while I was down. I felt awful. It ruined my day. I ended up deleting the thread there, and I am here now a few months later. I wasn’t sure whether I’d get the same kind of response here, and I hesitated to post anything. I am happy that I did post it, despite getting one salty commenter, because the majority of the replies have been helpful instead of chastising. I appreciate you and @DailyDriven, a lot.

Even if this were a BMW M5 CS what made you think spending $932/m basically straight of school was a good idea?
