Actually wholesale food prices aren’t as bad as 2021 as least for seafood and meats like snow crab, salmon, shrimp, chicken wings etc. What has gone up dramatically is labor costs. And labor isn’t just the wages of the employees working there, it’s also the labor to upkeep the equipment needed to run the store or restaurant like ovens and refridgerators.
I understand the macro aspects and know inflation isn’t increasing at the same rates as before. But recurring bills at close to double their previous levels def stings for the average consumer, regardless of quarter percentage swings.

I think a lot of us here on the forum tend to be rather sheltered from the devastating effects of the true level of inflation over the last few years. Sure we feel it but none of us is going to skip paying the light bill to get groceries.
The reality is there’s a base cost to just existing in a service heavy economy that’s in decline and a lot of lower wage folks are feeling the pinch in ways many of us here can’t even begin to imagine.
