Not able to get good deal in Washington State - Greater Seattle Area

,

Why is it so hard to get a good deal in Washington state near Seattle Area ?
I tried reaching out to 4 dealers that are there in the area and nobody is ready to budge on the price. max I got was 5%.
has anybody have experience hacking a deal in Washington state near Seattle Area ? If So please share the experience and process. Thanks

The question is what car are you trying to get?
Some cars, 5% is fairly standard and tougher to get more

Agreed, this area is hard because most buyers have no clue what and how they can negotiate so dealers get what they ask and have no need to negotiate with hackers.

Some markets are more challenging than others, but most people think they can’t get a good deal because they live in [insert location here], when in reality the biggest obstacle is usually technique (“Hi, how much do you want for that car over there :point_right: ?”.

You also don’t have to shop in your immediate area.

@IAC serves the PNW area. What vehicle are you looking for? That will help us a lot in determining what’s achievable.

WA is not the exception; it’s part of the norm.

CA and NY tri state are the exceptions: due to high density of dealers (owned by different people) which actually compete with each other and have a culture of targeting volume bonuses. Everyone else wants to go for per-transaction profit.

As mentioned some brands are brokered by LH brokers in WA and some CA sellers also sell out of state. Click Marketplace

Particularly true when looking at specific manufacturers. You can throw a rock and hit half a dozen (competing) dealerships; quite sad that I can get a vehicle shipped to my door, including the higher fees, adds, etc. and still end up thousands cheaper than my region. CA & NY the deals are plentiful. I’m referring to unicorn-esque deals even, not just a run-of-the-mill unit & figures.

Skill issue?

I am shopping for a Kia/Hyundai/Chevrolet lease deal in WA.
Having moved from NJ, I am finding hard to locate a good deal despite the high rebates on EVs.

The marketplace has exactly 1 broker for non luxury brands.
If anyone has recommendations/know brokers who ship to WA, would be great if you could comment on this thread, thanks!

Which Chevrolet? If you want equinox 2lt awd with supercruise let me know. I just got one on Saturday and the deal was great.
Dealer is willing to replicate but has very limited inventory.

Thanks for the response.
I looked at Equinox 2LT at Chevrolet Everett.

MSRP/Selling price: $43295
Rebates: $2000
Down: $4000
Monthly: $464

It was so far off from LH threads that I did not even bother to negotiate.
Would really appreciate if you could share more details/ DM what deal you landed at.

Thanks!

$239/month, 0 due at signing
49xx msrp

I had $3500 in incentives - 1000 lease cash, 1500 conquest and 1000 costco.

thanks, this is helpful!

@justanotherlease21 I’m in the same boat as you and facing similar struggles here in WA. Please keep us posted if you’ve made any progress.

@Bargainer, I’m interested in the Equinox lease deal you mentioned. Could you share which dealer you worked with and if they still have inventory? Thank you!

@nrs Id suggest shooting emails to your nearby dealers with realistic numbers (see signed deals in WA) that work for you, mention the rebates you qualify for, and that you’re ready to buy the same day. dealers will respond back with a counter or agree. There’s always some back and forth.

and use LeaseHackr calc and run the numbers you’re getting from dealer to see where you can negotiate (dealer discount, rebates or MF).

Hi,

I see you just joined leasehackr, I do not wish the dealer to be inundated with queries. Please post what incentives you qualify for and a calculator with your expected payment with all your incentives applied.

It’s extremely unlikely for a dealer to be equally motivated two deals in a row.

Work out what your target is and post your best attempt at the LH calculator showing the forum what that is.

I think it really depends on the type of car you’re looking for. I live in the state of Washington and greater Seattle area and not always but I have had good luck before. For example, I was able to lease a Kia Niro EV back in 2020 for less than 170 a month with no Down payment locally

I would suggest doing a search base on your Need instead of a particular car or brand and see which model dealers locally have a huge inventories of.

This usually translates to the manufacturers miss forecast. Making the dealership over stock on certain models and would more likely offer area specific rebates, and cash for dealers to motivate to move those units.

But if there is a specific car in mind and on the higher end when it comes to price, don’t hesitate on doing a nationwide search of the car. Use websites like cars.com where it shows the data on how long the car has been sitting in dealership to gauge.
I’ve leased plenty of cars, Different models nationwide, and have been shipped to Seattle if the number works out

I am currently working on a few models Locally, and they seem like they will be able to match some of the great deals on the platform here

We can assist with BMW deals in this region.

I have the 2021 Niro EV under $200 with 0 down! Great value car, before EV model flooded, this served transition to EV well.

@nrs
sure thing,
dealers are doing a lot of bait & switch. Had a Kia dealer advertise $5k down & $50/month. They quoted much higher, but when pointed to the deal on their own website, they offered ~$8.5k + $50/month.
