Honest question - is there a reason you’re advertising this as a lease vs a purchase? Someone buying this with a $9,500 drive-off and financing for 60 months would be around $3,000 per month, likely with equity at the end (and without the mileage limitation). To me, makes no sense to lease this car.
I suppose the sales tax kills your purchase equation. At 8% you’re paying an additional $12k on a $150k car. If you roll everything you can into the loan you might come out OK after sale, but the lease is a set rental calculation to drive it for a specific period regardless of the market conditions.
Exactly this. Because there is no sales tax credit in California at trade-in; cars that depreciate slowly and/or are very expensive are often cheaper to lease than to drive as a retail finance. A very small percentage of folks actually buy their cayennes/911s and drive the wheels off of them; CPO + short term lease is the sweet spot (I’m generalizing).
Example; CPO 2022/23 cayenne turbo GT could be had for $1950/mo with a 3-5k drive off. 26k all in for one year and 15k miles of warrantied driving bumper to bumper. List price on one of these would be about $145k, which would make me pay $14k up front as sales tax that I’ll never see again. Just doesn’t make sense to buy. And I’m definitely not paying msrp of $240k
