I did just about 30% today for a non-lh member. I think I spoiled them, it was their first lease and I don’t think they really knew how cheap it was.
Is there a trick to getting dealers to drop the sales price? I’ve been trying to work with local bmw/MB dealers on loaners, and when I try to get them to push the discount price past 10% they act like I’m a crazy person. They defend themselves saying they sell fast enough that they don’t need to discount any further than that. It seems like (at least in my location, with my negotiation abilities) loaners aren’t really providing a huge savings over new.
I fell off my chair with this, I actually like the CLA more than the C in terms of the car, just hate the image associated with it. Ugh. The last time I was in a Mercedes Service dept, some woman rolls up in her base Cla. I swear it didn’t have one option. Comes in saying the car is making noises and couldn’t describe them even after a test drive. The dealer agreed to take the car in after she started yelling. Then came loaner time, she wanted an e class coming out of a cla, seriously. They gave me the cla loaner and her the e class. This has happened a few times now.
hahaha I actually really like the aesthetic of the CLA, too. But for the same reason you mentioned, I just have a hard time seeing myself buying into that image and being one of a million C-class owners in town.
My MB sales guy at the time kept complaining “now all these people come through the door with no credit wanting to drive a benz making all sorts of demands”
