A Uhaul backed into my parked Mazda and now i’m dealing with their insurance to make the repair at a Mazda Collision Network repair shop. Entire bumper needs to be replaced, and insurance is saying they won’t cover OEM parts because its a 2024. The shop says it will look good and Mazda Financial won’t care. I actually called Mazda Financial and asked if the work is done at a Mazda certified shop is it ok for the bumper not to be OEM and they said only the windshield needs to be OEM everything else is fine to be aftermarket. But my lease contract says only OEM parts (though there’s literally just one sentence addressing repairs), and calling the dealer they said absolutely has to be OEM parts.
So my question is, has anyone turned in a lease with a high quality repair that was NOT OEM and had any issues? I assume the only person looking to see if parts are OEM at lease turn in will be… the third party pre-turn in lease inspector? Or does the dealership check it over? First time here, thanks for your help.
It isn’t the dealer’s car.

If it’s repaired to spec, with a warranty (parts, paint, labor, etc.), I wouldn’t worry about it.

How is Mazda Financial going to know it’s not an OEM bumper? They aren’t going to take it off the car and look for a Mazda stamp.
