In my case leasing in SC specifically Tesla. Never understood why the Tesla site would tell me when calculating a lease not available in my area. Dig a little deeper and discovered has something to do with SC not allowing leases directly from a manufacturer must go through a dealer. Any way around this??
Bump… I might be in the same boat. I know financing is possible but leasing appears murky in SC.
I don’t think there is a way around it unless you would have a secondary address out of state but then you could be up against a property tax problem if SC is your primary residence because you may have to prove your vehicle is registered in SC
What a shame. Just can’t bring myself around to the idea of buying a Tesla especially at this time, so leasing is the perfect compromise. Really wish SC would change their laws to accommodate Tesla and Rivian. Wishful thinking.

I wonder if Tesla would consider this a special circumstance. Tesla would lease in SC if the laws allowed it. And in a transfer, Tesla isn’t technically starting a lease in SC. What would happen if someone leased a Tesla and then moved to SC? Would force them to terminate the lease? Interesting situation.
I think death is a special circumstance vs a normal lease transfer
