I’m about to close a lease on an EV. I read that effective July 1st NJ is imposing a $250 fee per year for registering an EV and I will need to pay 4 years in advance (even though I am leasing for 2 years). I am buying from an out of state dealer and he didn’t mention it when we agreed on an all in monthly with all taxes and fees rolled in. Should I assume that I will be billed separately by NJ and add the $1,000 to the cost or do I need to make sure the dealer pays it (which may open the monthly to new negotiations)?
