Nissan lease mileage question

I was asking for 12k miles for my next Nissan lease, but one dealers response was that miles don’t matter much since they tend to buy almost all Rogue lease returns and that I would only pay for overage miles if it was returned directly to Nissan. He also mentioned I could buy extra miles up to the last month of the lease.

He originally suggested 10k miles which I know I would definitely be over that per year, but if the miles don’t matter, should I consider dropping down to 10k? Just looking for other opinions because this is the first I’m hearing this. I’ve only had a few leases and couldn’t tell you if the dealer bought it back or if it went back to the manufacturer. Thanks in advance!

You can pre-purchase miles during the lease at 10 cents per mile. Do the math and see what would make more sense for you

on a 2 year lease, pre-buy them. on a 3 year, do them up front w nissan. the 2% residual drop over 3 years is a lot more palatable than 2.

I appreciate both your responses! I was tentatively offered $469 for 36 months and 12k miles. Seems like a decent deal to me, although I was really hoping to be around $430-$440. Seems like no one around me is willing to go much lower, most is higher.

No way to evaluate the deal without the sheet they gave you, unless that was all verbal. However that sounds way too high for a Rogue

That is all verbal. I’ve reached out to close to 10 dealerships and that was pretty much the lowest. Everyone else was around $500-$600. I think I’m just in a bad area for leasing and no one wants to deal. I am looking at the Platinums though.

Post your target payment/DAS and link to LH calc…this will really tell you what you need to know/do.

Also check the deals section and marketplace. Much better options out there in your price range.

Honestly I haven’t seen much that actually gets good gas mileage and is not full electric. I was considering hybrids, but there aren’t many of those that I’ve found.

Not sure you’re looking hard enough. For example there are Mercedes glb 250s for what you’re going to pay for a rogue.

Are you in Chicago area getting hit with high taxes on a lease?

Thankfully not in Chicago, about 1 1/2 hours away in the suburbs.

Not interested in paying for premium gas either. It’s a nice looking suv though!

1 or 2 hundred dollars a year? I would run the math on all your mileage concerns. Even in CA it’s negligible between cars within the same segment.
