Nissan is so cooked, has 12 to 14 months of survival left

This according to the Financial Times (Subscribe to read).

For the cheapskates in the club, here is an aggregated summary: Nissan Has '12 to 14 Months' Left

They’ve been on a general decline since the merger with Renault in '99

Cooked must be the hot new word these days. :face_with_hand_over_mouth:

They’d lock a guy in a box and smuggle him out of Japan to have Ghosn back.

You like to stroke big checks, why not just bail them out personally?

You could get them to rename the company Messan or something more fitting.

Nissan has made some memorable cars in their day, but I don’t know if anyone is going to miss the 2025 version of Nissan, aside from maybe the Z and GTR.

came here to post this too

wonder if any '25 doorbuster armada deals are coming our way

maybe titan too?

The bank will survive, the dealer might not. So you will pay for something that has no warranty like a used car

I’ve had a few Nissan’s out of warranty and collectively spent maybe $500 on repairs.

I know this is LH and you could honestly give someone a reliable, well built vehicle for free and the first objection would be, “it’s out of warranty” and I need to think about it.

Well i did mean EVs more than gas considering my aryia has an active recall right now

Wouldn’t Honda now honor warranty if they bought them?

They sure did. I loved my Z’s and I still kick myself for selling the 370z. I kick myself even harder for not getting a GTR before the prices shot into outer space. To this day, I cannot think of another car that had the status like “Godzilla” did. It was a an attainable supercar… considering the price point and insane level of performance (especially in comparison with its competition at the time).

:100:

I would have little hesitation with owning a (decent) Nissan out of warranty.

Wonder how this impacts dealerships and their mentality on moving inventory.

I know a dealership which recently cut ties with Nissan and is in the process of converting to a different brand. They moved all the inventory to their sister dealership. However, wonder if more dealerships will start seeking an exit now and will try to fire-sale cars over the next few months.

None of this surprises me. Years of not producing a single quality product that has genuine consumer demand and having to give cars away at firesale prices has finally run its course. I post rogues in the mid $200s here. QX60s in the mid $300s. There isn’t a line for either product.

not surprised there isn’t a line outside your door with your excellent personal communication skills

I would imagine those dealerships will start the process to end their dealership franchise agreements w/ Nissan and will receive less inventory over time. At which point the remaining inventory would be transferred to dealers choosing to remain

Will we potentially see some good deals, sure, I wouldn’t count on fire sale though. As @aronchi mentioned, their are already some pretty compelling price points for a couple of models and it still isn’t moving the needle much.

The 18 month deals were pretty intriguing on a few models though I didn’t personally jump on any of them.

Makes sense. Yeah there really isn’t anything in their line up that makes me want to jump even at a low price (maybe a Pathfinder RockCreek for really cheap?)…

there is a line, actually, just not on these 2 particular brands.
