Nissan dealers won’t accept my lease return

18 months ago, I leased a Frontier Pro 4X during the crazy 98% residual days using a broker. I live in SF but leased the vehicle in Stockton which is about 100 miles away. Several weeks ago, I called my local dealership (Golden State Nissan) to set a return appointment as instructed on the NMAC website. I was told that an appointment wasn’t necessary and to just bring it in when ready. I had my AIM inspection completed about a week ago. Fast forward to yesterday when I called to confirm details at Golden State and was told they now couldn’t accept the return because their lot was full. I then called several dealerships in the general area and was told the same. Calling Nissan finance was frustrating and was told that the only dealership that couldn’t refuse the return was the original dealership. So, this morning I had to drive 2 hours to return and another 2 hour Uber ride ($125) back to my house.

This has really soured me on Nissan as a brand and I’d advise others to plan accordingly when attempting to return a Nissan/Infiniti product.

I have no issues with Nissan Stockton. They were awesome during the leasing process and the return was a breeze.

write a google review. Give them 2 stars not 1. This way it wont be removed.

Nissan did this before the Pandemic, looks like they back to this.
FCA did this too BTW.

lol - yeah I had to do the same - Volvo anywhere close to nyc wouldn’t accept the lease return

Keith’s the man though

Similar experience as OP. Called my local Nissan dealer that has been servicing the car to turn in the lease and they refused to accept it and suggested to take it to Stockton lol
