I’m pretty shocked by how tech-forward the design is inside and out. The current ES is a good car but they’re definitely trying to shed their luxobarge image for better or for worse.
It doesn’t seem as fancy as I thought. The Lexus logo is better than the letters.
The front end doesn’t have the luxurious feel of the current generation. The steering wheel also doesn’t seem to be as luxurious as the current design.
This looks like more of a hurried rebadge job on a Camry than the first gen 1989 ES 250 … which was literally a hurried rebadge on a Camry.
And before any pedants want to chime in on exactly what platform it’s built on:
Looks absolutely disgusting.
It’s ugly. IMHO 4th gen has the best exterior. 7th gen is a great package inside & out.
Wow. They really F*ed it up with this. Why do all these brands want the front ends to look exactly the same.
2nd gen (the first and maybe last time they tried) was the last time the ES had its own distinct identity. After the 3rd gen I don’t even know which gen is what, without having to really think about it.
Last one I thought was good looking in a very contemporary way
Why do they always add weird body lines on new gen cars?
Knew it was coming, but dang. Gonna miss the 2GR.
Only 2 ipads glued on the dash. Id be in for one if it had 3 glued on.
With the next refresh/redesign; most, if not all, luxury cars will bring back the physical buttons and switches. That will also be the number one thing all the marketing material and reviewers talk about…
Probably to hide how enormous it is. This is essentially the size of an LS. And it’s about the same height as a Crown.
Full credit to Lexus for go all in on futurism and concept car details, but I imagine this’ll look pretty offensive, in real life, and totally alienate its usual fan base. I assume this is mainly designed for China?
This! 100% This!
