Newbie - What Am I Doing Wrong? Lexus RX 350

I’m trying to get my first lease, but I’m apparently not doing something right because I can’t get anywhere near the prices you all are getting on an RX 350.

I live in Oklahoma, so there are only two dealerships in the state. Should I broaden my search to include Texas?

Is it better to call, email, or both? I’ve tried one of each, without much difference between the two, but I get that’s a tiny sample size.

My goal is to get the car all in for less than $400/month, but I can’t get close to that with the sale prices I’m getting - less than 5% off MSRP.

Possibly, I’m just bad at negotiating, but I’ve been “allowed” to walk away with no callbacks, so I’m not sure what I’m doing. Is $400 unreasonable? I also should be able to get the Lexus loyalty rebate if it’s available for what that’s worth. Sorry to come in with an overly broad topic, I’ve been reading on here for about a year and finally ready to jump in only to find, I know WAY less about this whole thing than I thought I did.

What car? MSRP? What money factor they giving? What residuals?

Find a dealership that has higher volume and more competition. Don’t restrict yourself to your immediate geographical location.

you have to wait until the end of Nov. to pull the trigger. Dealers don’t discount well in the beginning of the month. Moreover, new lease program is not posted yet and the Oct. lease program of $2500 cash back is expired now. I would say wait for 2-3 weeks and then start to negotiate.

Here is what I have scored yesterday:

When does December to Remember sales event start? Anyone think the lease cash will go up from the Oct $2500 on the RX350?

the websites already have the December to Remember sales info up. Just waiting for the terms.

Looks like my regional RX350 deal went from $399 with 3k down to $399 with 2k down. Either an inflated residual or a bump in lease cash for December to Remember. Hopefully I am now able to get an AWD for $400 no money down now

Is it better to call the dealership and ask for the internet department or to just email back and forth?

I’ve always just reached out via email and gave them my cell number and told them they could also text me. All the Lexus dealers I’ve dealt with in Ohio have been pretty good about dealing through those mediums.

I did look at the Lexus of Easton. Looks like lease cash is bumped from $2500 to $3500. However, it is stays the same in my area.

Wrong, Lease cash is the same $2500 in Lexus of Easton… Sorry I was looking at the different car. You can see how much lease cash they offer in the detail section of the offer.

Use email. Never call or reveal your phone number or your true identify until you’re 90% happy with their offer.

I normally start with dealers far… far… far away from me to get an idea of how much they can deduct from MSRP, and then haggle down with nearby dealers.

I was offered a NX200t F-sport AWD for $325 a few months ago w/o even trying hard, so I am sure RX350 should be possible to hack.

According to Edmunds the November numbers are .00001 MF and 56% Residual on 36/10k. Same $2,500 lease cash. Was hoping for increased lease cash and not a drop in MF. Looks like MSD are useless now.

Yes, it seems the program get a little worse from Oct to Nov. Monthly payment jump up around $10-$15 with this new program but you don’t have to put 6xMSD anymore.

Does anyone know if Lexus typically offers different deals in December from November or is it all lumped under the December to Remember promo?

I don’t think so but look at the edmunds forum for the history of the lease numbers from Nov. 2016 to Dec. 2016.

I see complimentary first payment added last december, other than that its the sarme. Residual was 62%/15k with MF of 0.00155
