When should you bring up MSDs? The dealer has agreed to the price I want to pay and sent a basic term sheet - do I wait until I see the paper work?
when you mention MSDs to the salesman they always hit you with the whats that?
finance office would be the play
Do not mention MSDs until the finance office.
If they don’t let you do msds nuke them on the survey
Personally, I am always upfront with the deal I want
Better to tell them up front. No need to be coy, as you should already know the price you want to pay, with and without the MSD’s. It will also get the awkward, “I don’t know what those are”, at the beginning of the transaction, so you know what you are dealing with.
You could get the same reaction from the finance manager while sitting in the office.
Better to know ahead of time that the finance manager knows what MSD are and is willing to structure the deal with them.
Agree. If they don’t know what it is or unwilling to do MSDs, then you go somewhere else.
Ask about MSDs before you agree to a deal
You are setting yourself up for failure if you try to do it last minute, a lot of dealers won’t do them
The dealership was willing to do MSDs, however, the MF was only reduced by .00002 for each MSD.
Which brand is this?
Volvo - the lease calculator says .00005
They’re bumping the MF more than they’re letting on.
With US Treasury paying ~5% interest rate, you can do a self-managed MSD to bring the lease cost down whether or not dealer and/or leasing company is willing to do it. There are bunch of compound interest calculators online, just plug in the MSD amount and see how much would you be generating through US treasuries over the same period and divide it by lease term and compare it with what would you save via putting MSD w/ auto FS and choose wisely!
