New To "Smart" Leasing, But Somewhat Confused. 2019 Nissan Rogue

I own another Nissan so I may qualify for a “Loyalty” rebate…Will check it out…Thanks!!

NYC’s lease rebate is $1000 more and their overall cash incentives are $500 more, so yeah.

In regards to the cash incentives, the person I’m dealing with made a point of listing the lease rebate I would be receiving, but made no mention of any other rebates/incentives, etc. so should I assume the $1200 or so that they’ve knocked off the price does not include any of those and that they still have some of those to use at their discretion?

Personally I’ve had a lot of seat time in and dislike the Rogue but more importantly getting a great deal is about:

(A) knowing which models have a lot of support at any given time; the Marketplace sub is a great place to get a sense of that.

(B) getting dealers to compete with each other so you can get the crucial discount before any incentives are applied. This can often depend on relative density of dealers…which sounds like isn’t great for Nissan in your area

Ugh…Makes me want to go back and drive it again.
My son and his wife own one ( 2012 ) and like it which is one of the reasons I’ve been leaning towards it but I do appreciate your feedback…I don’t drive great distances in general and only make longer trips once or twice a year…But certainly, something to keep in mind.

And with 3 dealerships I guess that isn’t a great deal of competition…I could branch out to Indy or Cincy which are just a couple hours away which in theory I don’t mind and would definitely increase competition, but also the hassle factor…Lots to consider.

I’d definitely check out the GMC Terrain over the Rogue.

The SLE model leases very cheaply usually, and last month in my region I was quoted 394 with 11% taxes on a 40k SLT.

I’m going to preface this by saying I agree with max_g on the Rogue and wouldn’t buy one myself.

That said if it’s the right car for you, don’t let car guys dissuade you. On paper it’s a little underpowered and the CVT isn’t class leading. But if you don’t care about those things, and most people don’t, get what you want. It’s a perfectly competent CUV.

That said, I would definitely not pay 400+ a month for it. It’s not at all unique so while I can see why people like them, I can’t see paying 100+ bucks a month more for one than a competitors vehicle.

Definitely check all the dealers. In Chicago I was able to get a Rogue AWD SV with Premium package with a MSRP of 31,740 for 28,300.

I would say that the 2019 Rogue is a lot smoother than a comparable 2017 due to the improvements with the CVT. I put quite a few highway miles on my old Rogue and it drove very nice on the road. Plus it is huge inside especially with all my boys over 6’ tall.

Thank you!!..I appreciate hearing from someone who owns one…I’m not really a car “person”…At all…And I’ve always owned sedans…But when I drove it I actually liked it…I also thought it was quite roomy…Had both my young adult sons with me and while it’s mainly me 90% of the time once or twice a year we do travel together and that was something I was interested in, i.e. would it be comfortable enough for all of us for a few days away or would we need to rent something.

Today I’ve managed to get a quote that’s almost 9% off sticker ( before rebate )…We will see what tomorrow brings.

I have driven the Rogue all over with 1 or 2 in the back. It drives nice on the highway. Plus with all the legroom, everyone isn’t cramped. With just two kids at home now since the older two are off to college, we use the Rogue now on the weekends vs the minivan. It is nice to drive everyone around and not have to worry about moving the seats up to give people space. The ProPilot is a very nice addition I would add. Though it does take some getting used to.

If you look at the class of cars once called midsize, they are larger now. Camry, Accord, Sonata, etc.

It makes a difference vs these smaller SUVs not just in legroom but also width (sometimes defined as hip room in specs).

IMO both the front and backseats of these midsize sedans is a much nicer place to be than inside a compact SUV.

Someone just posted a nicely loaded Sonata SEL for $195/m, $0 DAS.

We drove a rogue on a cross-Texas trip a few mos back and felt it was very comfortable despite it being a lower end SV model. Great for those uninterested in trying to purple nurple their local German dealer into a unicorn deal on a similarly sized car.

Thought I would update…I did finally negotiate a lease on the Rogue I initially started this topic on last Thursday…I appreciate everyone’s thoughts, suggestions, and input…It’s my first SUV and so far I’m enjoying it…If in 3 years I decide I still prefer a sedan I can go back. I think I got a decent/ok deal but you can be the judge…The deal was $500 drive-off which included the first month’s payment and I don’t know exactly what of the remainder what $202 were taxes or their fee’s, so I lumped together…Yes, I know should know, but I don’t…I was brain dead by that point…My gut is they ate a lot of their fee’s because 3 weeks ago the initial quotes they were giving me included over $300 in fee’s…But anyway…Here it is…And again, many thanks!! ( Hope it posts right )

Congrats! You got a nice deal for your situation.

If they “ate” anything it was in the amount of discount they gave you to make those fees lower. They didn’t just eat fees.

Or that…Lol

Anyway, at the end of the day, that’s what I ended up with wherever it came from.
Not looking forward to doing this again in 3yrs but will feel better prepared.

Thanks again, everyone.
